Weather Channel Movie Night

Atlanta : GA : USA | about 1 month ago

Twenty seven years ago a new channel arrived on the airwaves that spoke about the weather, not just in the local area but all around the world, and extensive coverage of severe weather events. Later the Weather Channel expanded its programming into weather related shows like documentaries of extreme weather events. Beginning October 30 the Weather Channel will feature Friday night at the movies. Each movie will of course have a weather related event as its focus.

The first movie will the "The Perfect Storm". The October 30 showing will co-incide with the eighteenth anniversary of the original storm. Other movies scheduled to air are "March of the Penguins", "Deep Blue Sea", and "Misery". Weather Channel Meteorologist Jennifer Carfagno will host movie night and offer commentary.

For Weather Channel fans who tune in for news on the weekend weather, the Weather Channel will update the weather six times each hour.

Execs at the Atlanta based weather network hope that the expansion in programming will help to increase viewership.
