The Air Force has begun a search to replace the two Boeing 747-200 Aircraft currently serving as "Air Force One" Put in service in 1990, the two airplanes are now aging rapidly and are becoming less cost effective. Parts are getting harder to come by and are becoming more expensive...

Several aircraft, including the EADS Airbus A380, Boeing 747-8, Boeing 787 are being considered, although EADS has already stated they will not bid on the project... The Air Force wants to replace the two existing aircraft with a fleet of 3 new airplanes and wants them ready for service by 2017.

    Ridiculous. How about no planes? Since this "fleet" costs the American public a fortune to maintain, and actually it is the Secretary of State and also the Ambassadors that are really to travel and meet with foreign leaders as their job description.

    Not the President. Who should be at his desk while Congress is in session as his main job and not as an ambassador at all. And if foreign leaders wish to meet with him, in this day and age, with telecommunications the way they are - how about a conference call?
