Obama’s Growing Obsession with FOX NEWS Raises Questions About Real Motive

In an attempt to diminish the entire FOX NEWS organization, the Obama administration trotted out chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel and presidential advisor, David Axelrod on the Sunday talk shows to suggest that FOX isn’t even a news organization, but, “…an organization with a view”. As if reading off the same script, Emanuel and Axelrod both suggested that other news organizations should not pick up on any of FOX’s news stories.

As if these types of comments coming from a president’s administration shouldn’t be concern enough for the right of free speech, more disturbing was the interviewers’ lack of concern or follow-up questioning on these radical points of view coming from two of the administration’s highest ranking officials. Trying to stifle a particular story is one thing, but trying to put a muzzle on an entire new organization is a dangerous threat to our democratic institutions.

It’s such an alarming precedent for any administration to take, one has to pause and wonder why this administration would attack FOX NEWS in this way.

Safe to say that, unlike the other major media outlets new bureaus, FOX NEWS has been unwilling to follow the administration’s wishes to provide non-stop positive coverage of President Obama as ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, and PBS have. Unlike these other outlets, FOX makes an earnest effort to provide both sides of a particular issue and let’s the viewer decide for themselves.

So although the Obama administration castigates FOX NEWS, it appears their real beef is with a commentary show like Glenn Beck. While Beck has many critics, it was Glenn Beck that broke the stories on controversial appointee Van Jones and the revealing undercover tapes that led to the defunding of ACORN. And , by his own admission, he’s not even a journalist.

If you watch Glenn Beck’s daily show you will see that he asks many questions about the President Obama’s past and present associates, his appointments, his socialistic roots, his left-leaning policies, and his intentions with respect to “…fundamentally transforming America…”. For all of its displeasure with the conclusions that Glenn Beck may be drawing from these questions, the White House has not disputed or challenged any of Beck’s primary conclusions.

Last week Glenn Beck installed a red phone on his set which only Anita Dunn, White House Communications Director, has the number to so she could call during the program to dispute anything Mr. Beck was saying. After three days, Anita Dunn has yet to dial the phone.

As Anita Dunn recently revealed in an interview taped in January, the Obama administration is uniquely focused on controlling the message and dealing with these “pesky” reporters as little as possible. It seems clear then, that the Obama administration is more interested in stifling the truth.

Any attempt by a sitting President or his staffers, to discredit a news organization will only tend to make people ask the question, "Why?".

If they weren't afraid that Fox is being believed by some a significant percentage of the population, they wouldn't even bother. Generally one mosquito is hardly worth the trouble of slapping; a cloud of them is a different story. Obviously, Fox is making an impact. I think that's a good thing. They may or may not be "fair and balanced", but, often, they at least tell, "the rest of the story".

"the rest of the story"...even if they have to make it up.

You will get the commentary that you're wrong for implying Beck brought about the downfall of ACORN - because it's what the left is doing. It's called shutting ears and eyes. But, good news - it always backfires.

Obama is a cult leader. He's unable to tell the truth and shuts out questions that ask him the truth and the only thing the man says before he does not answer the question is: "Let me be clear."

Cult leaders lead ignorance and nothing more. If he was CLEAR there would not be a divided nation....and such ignorance on the conservative ideology which has been blasted by a particular article that was too ridiculous to even comment on today because it had more to do with Ecquador than the US and although I fully support alternative energy - I would never force this nation into a treaty that would end its ability to compete on the world manufacturing scale which is WHAT the Kyoto treaty will do. We have problems in this country that need fixing before we sign any treaty that locks our hands and allows Brazil, India and China to take more from us than they already have.

Beck didn't break the ACORN "hooker" video...The two that filmed the video didn't even work for Fox News. And it was a different Fox News show that broke the "hooker" video, Beck was just one of the people that jumped all over it.

You know amal - you just won't give credit anywhere. I didn't say he broke the video...I said he brought about the downfall of aCORN which he most certainly did with the bringing their scumbag actions front and center.

Unlike Obama.

i watched cnn this afternoon and was heartened to hear some of their "best political minds" actually questioning what obama is doing and admitting that obama was breaking campaign promises....maybe this obscene honeymoon is about to be over.
Reply By amalgam80 amalgam80 | about 1 month ago
You must not watch CNN too much, they've been critical of Obama for a while now. There was no honeymoon

It's the other News channel that's on a honeymoon.

they have been stuck up his butt for 2 years now, in fact i quit watching them during the campaign because they were so blatantly biased

There is no such thing as a "neutral" news organization. Never has been, never will be. News organizations can make every effort to avoid bias, but it always creeps in one way or another.

For those who haven't seen it, I recommend the documentary "Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's war on Journalism." Yes, it is a MoveOn production, but just as FOX does get things right sometimes, this documentary really exposes a lot of the shoddy "journalism" practices at FOX.

I think it is available for free on Google video.

While shows like Hannity, Beck and O'reilly are biased - and they admit it - 80% of FOX is much more fair and balanced than MSNBC anyday.

I think even those who label themselves liberal commentators are admiting this now - take away the sensationalism shows and you actually do have a very good news channel.

Once CNN was ordered by the administration to do that fact check on the SNL skit in which Obama's achievements to date were questioned, they lost all credibility. They were already in the tank, that one incident along withallowing a bunch of school kids to perform a Praise Obama song was too much and blew their cover. They just could not control themselves. Why is Jack Cafferty still on CNN? Wasn't he being sued by the Chinese government?
