I always wait with anticipation the first BCS college football ranking of the season because the rankings always bring immediate controversy over which teams should be ranked higher. Here are the top 10 for anyone who is curious about knowing the BCS polls.
1. Florida (6-0)
2. Alabama (7-0)
3. Texas (6-0)
4. Boise St. (6-0)
5. Cincinnati (6-0)
6. Iowa (7-0)
7. USC (5-1)
8. Texas Christian (6-0)
9. LSU (5-1)
10. Miami, Fla. (5-1)
As we can see, these rankings are consistently bad as they are every year. Iowa has beaten two ranked teams: Penn St. and Wisconsin. Boise St. has only beaten one ranked team when they defeated Oregon the first week in the season, and Cincinnati has only beaten one ranked team when they defeated South Florida last Thursday night. Yet, Boise St. and Cincinnati are ahead of Iowa. Also, they place USC ahead of TCU even though USC has one loss. Hopefully, the more teams that stay undefeated, the better. However, the BCS will not change this pitiful system. If you go to the BCS main website at bcsfootball.org, then you will see that the address of the BCS headquarters is not listed on the website. Even the people that work at the BCS knows how deplorable this ranking system is. To make matters even worse, the BCS organization is owned by FOX Sports. Therefore, the BCS Bowl System will stay intact until the contract expires in 2011. We are stuck with this polling system for another few years thanks to Fox. This question is sarcastic: can Fox do anything right? If you want to complain about the BCS, then send your complaints to Fox Sports Headquarters located in Los Angeles.
