Richard Heene and son Falcon

According to the Associated Press, Larimer County SheriffJim Alderden, said the now infamous Heene family will face charges for the recent helium balloon incident. They were in the process of issuing a search warrant to search the Heene's home.

The parents spent most of the day talking with the sheriff’s department on Saturday and left without being placed under arrest. They went home and called off the media conference they had called earlier in the day after directing reporters to leave their written questions in a small card board box Heene had left on the front steps of the family’s home.

The Heene's simply posted a note saying they were tired and no more announcements would be made.

It will be an event the world won't soon forget as everyone held their breath, thinking a six year old child had climbed aboard an escaped helium balloon that floated above the fields and roads of Colorado for over two hours. The balloon finally made an unceremonious landing in a freshly plowed field. That is when the silver-saucer shaped balloon was found to be empty.

Ultimately, as the entire world knows by now, the child had feared reprisal from his father for playing around the balloon and crawled up into the attic to avoid punishment. Although he heard voices calling for him, six year old Falcon, decided not to come out of hiding and only did so after the voices died out and he became bored. Supposedly.

A controversial comment by young Falcon on Larry King Live, “it was for the show”, and subsequent appearances on morning talk shows, where the child became ill—caused a lot of questions to be raised—even prompting concerns by Colorado Child Services.

The family has a controversial past and had appeared twice on the reality show “wife swap”. The couple, Richard and Mayumi met in acting class.

Updated 10/18/2009 Sheriff Alderman obtained a search warrant and will be looking for incriminating evidence in the form of phone records, financial documents, e-mails, etc. Charges are expected to include possible conspiracy and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Alderman was quoted as saying, "they gave us all a good show."

Stay tuned. More drama to follow.

The guy needs to be charged for sending all of those police officers out on that hunt for the entire day. And how about Falcon regurgitating on cue like a real bird? This story gets weirder every day. Thank you, Ms. Starling for keeping the world posted.

Seems to me the local press, authorities and the community itself are getting a lot of press and national coverage for something, that if we didn't have 24 hour cable news now and all those hours to fill would have simply been worthy of nothing more than a blurb on the late night news.

And all those that are seeking charges at this point that far exceed letting the punishment fit the crime, or making now public opinion judgements are simply too incredible to believe, and just goes to show how far this country has fallen that something like this would have been so blown out of proportion to receive the amount of coverage it has. The press, it appears, even promote their own causes and stories about now covering stories, it is ludicrous actually.

And if the kid was filled with guilt over what he had done, or nervous at all the attention that something like this had received such a national gossip fest and fixation any six year old kid would throw up. Young kids throw up before school exams many times.

And it's clear Ahol has none. Since some of the things that kids do are too incredible to believe. Or the lengths they will go to in order to avoid being held accountable.

Sort of like our politicians.

That's right; I don't have any children because I don't want the next generation reading the conspiracy crap that you dish out on allvoices on a daily basis. Hey Ross1776, you probably thought that the British were invading again when you saw that balloon for the first time.

And our media, including some of the citizen journalism sites such as these that spin tales and present a great deal of fixtion as fact. Especially those that are writing for the U.S. in some of the totally inaccurate depictions of the political landscape as it stands today.

Just when I thought things couldn't get worse, and that there is so much true news and political corruption going on in this country, the press spends now literally days on the balloon boy story.

Unbelieveable.

And I'm sure that town and those local officials and that community is making money on this one. So just exactly how were they damaged, since true loss and damage does have to be involved in any criminal matter in this country, rather than simply a civil misdemeanor if they can even somehow prove that this couple set this up.

And just who contacted the national press from that community anyway? I bet those local police authorities. And for what purpose other than to also get some media attention...

Ross, I don't know why I bother responding to your delusional comments, but the fact is, the Heene's are the ones who contacted the news channel. And they did that before they called 911.

As for damages, how much to you think it costs local authorities to have helicopters and ground crew chasing that balloon for over two hours? Then a dozen officers spent hours on the ground searching for him. It must have cost the sheriff's department a fortune.

I updated the article this morning, because they have issued a search warrant to look for evidence that it was just a hoax perpetrated by a pair of media hungry losers willing to use their child to get back into the spot light.

Anyone looney enough to think it was a conspiracy cooked up by the local news channels and the cops--is, well, just that--a loon.

hahaha you sure did!

Well I think ultimately this type of craziness needs to be dealt with harshly. It is unconscionable that people should be allowed to pull the heartstrings of millions of people simply out of greed or self-interest. And to involve his children in the lie is beyond reproach.
