Another man has been captured and charged with concealing a homocide in the case of Harry Powell Jr.(the man that was shot in the head, thrown off a balcony and burned in South Peoria in mid Sept.) It is believed the second man had fled to Chicago. No motive has been established for the victim's violent death. Both men ONLY face up to FIVE years in prison,if convicted. So it looks as if they WON'T BE CHARGED WITH THE ACTUAL MURDER ITSELF,just concealing it.I can only imagine how this poor victim's family must feel. The first man arrested Khaalig Battle is 27 and the second man James Korderoe is 23.Battle also was indicted on charges of armed robbery and home invasion for an unrelated Sept. 11 incident in the 2400 block of North Gale Avenue. Those charges allege he and another man had a firearm when they went into an apartment. Because prosecutors allege a handgun was used for the crime, 15 years would be added onto the base range of six to 30 years if they are convicted.
The apartment dwellers told police two men with guns kicked in a door, made them get down on the ground and demanded money. One of the victims was pistol whipped before the two robbers fled with an undetermined amount of money, court records indicate.
