The latest bombing in Pakistan that killed 14 policemen is reported to be the handiwork of women suicide bombers of the Taliban – it was the latest one in the past 11 days. Over 150 policemen have been killed so far in this short period and it is similar to the killing of policemen by Naxals last week in the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border. Obviously, women are getting involved in such activities and personify the upsurge of women power. We have come across them in the political arena where they have left their distinct stamps and have come to be feared and respected. From the Bandit Queen Phoolan Devi to the leaders like Margaret Thatcher or Benazir Bhutto or Indira Gandhi – they have proved that women can compete with men on equal footing and should not be treated with scorn or be ignored.
