Kali Puja 2009 – London
Goddess Kali is another form of Goddess Durga worshipped by Bengali communities – there are certain differences. While Durga is depicted with ten hands, Kali has only four. Moreover, the Durga puja is a four day affair and Kali worship is one night’s – that too after midnight. The usual practice is to worship Goddess Kali in the same pandal as Goddess Durga. It is said that those tantric who worship Goddess Kali with sincerity can get special powers and, she blesses all those who can shake off all fears. The tantric are supposed to worship the Goddess in crematoriums while sitting on a bed of human skulls. This celebration is held in UK and America also.
