SBY will get the strongest cabinet. Is danger for the Indonesian democratic Development ?

By : Muhammad Jusuf *

Indonesian President-elect Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) next October 20, 2009 will sworn in as a second term of his administration and will announce his new Cabinet ministers composition on October 21, 2009.

If we look at the latest Indonesian political development SBY will form a cabinet newly members minister are from all the leading Indonesian political parties, not only figures from parties the current coalition with SBY's Democratic Party, which already includes the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), the National Mandate Party (PAN), the United Development Party (PPP) and the National Awakening Party (PKB), but also from the second strongest and former ruling party for more than 30 years Golkar Party and also from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle lead by Yudhoyono rival Megawati Soekarnoputri.

Golkar party with his newly chairman Aburizal Bakrie with other the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), the National Mandate Party (PAN), the United Development Party (PPP) and the National Awakening Party (PKB) have a sign of political contract of commitment to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, that is means they are all supporting and joint the cabinet coalition.

Later, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle even not straightly, was also said his sign to joint the cabinet. ''If Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono needs a minister cadres from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle, we will give it,'' said Advisory Chairman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle Taufik Kiemas who also a husband of Chairman of the party Megawati Soekarnoputri.

Taufik Kiemas statements for the Indonesian political analyst is not a surprising them, because Taufik Kiemas who last week was sworn in as a Chairman of Indonesian Parliament of Consultative Assembly (MPR) because of the fully support from Democratic Party.

The Taifik Kiemas statements were get an opposition from his wife and Chairman of Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle Megawati Sukarnoputri and most of the Party leader, centrally or regionally.

Sources said, most of this coalition parties, including Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle will get two seat on cabinet, only three seat for the ruling party, the rest will fill by the professional.

Some 100 names have been included in the list of potential candidates to be ministers in the new Cabinet. Yudhoyono has said he will interview the candidates starting Saturday, October 17, 2009. Usually Yudhoyono will call the candidates and then all the candidates will taken like a proper and fit test, and health check.

Practically only the Great Indonesian Movement Party (Gerindra) lead by Prabowo Subianto, Hanura party lead by Wiranto still not joint the cabinet, that is mean more than 70% seat in Parliament will support the cabinet and Susilo Bambang Yudhohono administration.

For the Yudhoyono this cabinet composition are great, because he will run his administration smootly, without an opposition from the parliament. But, for the development of the Indonesian democracy this form are not too ideal, because too strong in government and too weak in parliament. No other stronger party will control the administration. That is means hard for the President to wipe out the Corruption, Pollution and Nepotism in Indonesia whose some political analyst said the corruption are becoming the extra ordinary crime in Indonesia in the last three decades.
