Action hero star Nicolas Cage, who has starred in dozens of Hollywood blockbuster movies, owes the IRS a reported $6.6 million in unpaid taxes. He is trying to sell several homes to pay back the IRS.

Cage will take a huge loss on the sale of his English castle in Somerset, about three hours west of London. He bought the castle for around $8 million, but is selling it for $5.6 million. The castle was built in the 18th century, and sits on thirty five acres of parkland and twelve acres of woodland.

The castle recently went on the market, and Cage has already accepted an offer. Both Cage and the buyer want to make things happen as quickly as possible with the sale of the castle.

Cage is also selling his home in New Orleans and a $35 million home in Hollywood.

I would think he could make that much in one movie. It always baffles me when these people who make millions per movies end up having money problems. He could hire me I could handle his millions for him.

these people are high maintenance. Expensive parties, expensive way of life so they must command a million dollars every month or so to keep them financially afloat and it doesnt help that sometimes those people who they hire to take care of everything screw them over..

I agree with you ladym33. I'm baffled by all the millions of dollars these actors make only to be in financial ruins years later. Mind boggling.

It is quite amazing that millionaire actors like him can end up being broke because they don't manage their finances well, and very stupidly, don't pay taxes. That has to be the most idiotic thing a person with high earnings can do.

I'm sure Cage makes at least $15 millon plus per picture and it seems he always has a new movie coming out. He's been in numerous blockbusters, so what in the world is he doing with the money? Why does he have to sell his castle, and two other homes to pay back $6.6 million. This doesn't make any sense. I certainly don't feel sorry for the guy. I will admit I've enjoyed some of his movies, but he's not financially smart.

I agree with ektarr. This is one reason why my mom has always said "don't ever be jealous of rich people" because there is ALWAYS something happening..something bad.

Nick Cage, in my opinion, has always been a great actor. I really liked him in the "National Treasure" movies. And when he was in "Con Air" with long hair....Ohhhh-baby..yeah, he was hot!
