The glittering cast of Bollywood’s first under-water thriller Blue created waves as they graced the red carpet. The eclectic mix of its principal cast - the action man Akshay Kumar, his doting wife Twinkle Khanna, the sexy siren Lara Dutta, the self-effacing A. R. Rahman and the zany Zayed Khan - brought the carpeted arena alive with their interesting anecdotes. Clad in a black Louis Vuitton gown and dipped in Anmol jewels, Dutta looked divaesque as she promised her fans that Blue would take them for the wildest ride of their lives. She was equally kicked about learning how to swim and dive for this sea adventure. "It was a big leap for me. I learned how to swim, tackled my hydrophobia and got myself a scuba diving licence. What more could I do?" asks Dutta. Being the sole lead in a male-oriented action film had its perks, she adds. Dutta is generally known for her excellent comic timing and has proved her mettle in films such as Do Knot Disturb. "What’s so sad about being the only girl among the boys?" was her impish reply. It was also heartening to see a sartorially-challenged Akshay Kumar struggle for air when asked about the designer he was wearing. But his glowing wife Twinkle Khanna, dressed in a Laila Motwani came to his rescue and filled in the gaps. Kumar, who looked dapper in his white Calvin Klein suit and Versace shoes, was on a stronger footing when speaking about the death-defying stunts. "Martial arts helped me a lot while doing the stunts. It teaches you a lot of discipline." The adorable couple were also happy to regale us with Khanna’s first and last visit to the sets of Blue. "The day I visited him on the sets. He hit his head, bled a lot and the sharks were out to get him. After that, I haven’t returned," says Khanna. Meanwhile, the married Zayed Khan walked solo and was happy to fool around with the press. "What I am wearing is me, me and me," was his retort to his style statement. Double Oscar-winner A.R. Rahman also walked in with his wife Saira to catch the world premiere of Blue. "It’s a genre I have never attempted before. It’s an adventurous, well-produced movie made with a lot of passion. We all had a lot of fun," says Rahman.
