PESHAWAR ( 15 October 2009 )As the national drive against polio gets underway in both settled and tribal areas, a total of 1,1,31,298 children would be vaccinated in FATA against the crippling disease. During the drive polio drops would be administered to children under the age of five years at door-to-door campaign. For this purpose 3,627 mobile teams and 314 fixed centers have been set up for the campaign. Moreover, 89 teams have been set up at various routes leading to different areas of FATA.
Director Expanded Program of Immunisation, Dr Mujahid Hussain told mediamen that 58,00,000 children have been administered polio drops in Frontier as per the target set in the current campaign and 16,700 teams are serving for the task.
Children under age of 5-years were administered polio drops during the drive.
"During the three days campaign children in Swat, Bajaur and Mohmand Agency have also been administered polio drops," Dr Mujahid added
