Al Martino Dies at 82

When crooners were the hit singers of the day, he was known the world over as Al Martino, but he was born Alfred Cini in 1927. Martino died in his home but no cause of death was given.

Martino was the first singer to have a hit single in the United Kingdom in 1952 with "Here in My Heart". The song stayed atop the charts for nine weeks. Other Martino hists were "Volare", "Spanish Eyes", "I Love You More and More Every Day", "Mary in the Morning" and "Can't Help Falling in Love". Martino's musical career spanned 50 years.

Martino is also known for his role of Johnny Fontane (the Frank Sinatra like crooner) in the hit mobster movie "The Godfather".
