San Jose, California - The first rainstorm of the Fall season has caused major flooding in parts of the San Fransisco area while black outs took place in the San Jose area.

The combination of heavy rain and strong winds have caused problems in the Bay Area. The rain began early in the morining and continued well into the day while by 6pm it has died down.

Because of the strong wind, there have been many areas in San Jose with out power. Some areas recovered by the afternoon while others will not have power until the morning.

Several schools had to cancel classes for either the day or the afternoon becuase of blackouts. Some colleges even called / emailed students informing them not to come to school so until later on in the day.

Strong winds have also knocked down branchs and trees in some residential areas with minimal property damage.

The heavy rain however has caused some flooding in areas whil leaving large puddles in the streets that could be hazarrdous to motorists.
