Week four of “Dancing with the Stars” brought four new dances for the celebrities and professional ball room experts with the Bolero, Charleston, Country Two-Step, and the forbidden dance, the Lambada. This week the dancers were allowed to perform lifts as long as they fit into the style of the dance.
First on the dance floor was Ultimate Fighting Champ Chuck Ladell with his partner Anna to try their hand at the Country Two-Step. Chuck came out on the dance floor with a coiled rope and sporting a cowboy hat. Judges Carrie Ann, Len, and Bruno all agreed that Chuck was always entertaining but that he needed to improve on his dance steps. Chuck and Anna were given a score of 17 for their dance.
Melissa and Mark performed a Charleston that Bruno said brought the twenties back to life. Carrie Ann said that the Charleston was Melissa’s dance and Len said the dance had the three E’s energy, excitement, and entertainment. With a 10 from Bruno, Melissa and Mark earned a 28 for their dance.
Natalie and Alec took on a Bolero that the judges called beautiful but was lacking; but still received a score of 24 for their dance.
Aaron and Karina performed the sensual and raunchy Lambada that was lacking on the raunchy side for head judge Len Goodman, Judges told Aaron that he was trying too hard; but Aaron said back stage that you cannot try hard. Despite a rousing approval from the audience, Aaron and Karina only earned an 18 for their dance.
Mark and Lacey took on the Country Two-Step that judges agreed was overall a good performance. Bruno told Mark that after seeing the fun Mark should have a roll in the hay more often. Mark and Lacey earned a 22 for their dance.
With their dance of the Charleston Kelly Osbourne got the chance to channel an inner desire. The pair took on the roles of Liza Minelli and Joel Gray from “Cabaret” with their Charleston. Carrie Ann called it like watching a bird learning to fly and Len called it a very well performed dance and a proper Charleston. Kelly and Louis earned a score of 23.
Joanna and Derek took on a Lambada that let fans see Derek shirtless for the first time on the show. Joanna started out standing behind Len and in his comments Len said he knew which dance he wanted to see in the encore performance. Bruno warned fans not to try that at home and Carrie Ann called it nice work on the performance. The pair earned a score of 26 for their dance.
After a passionate showing after his dance last week Donny Osmond brought out the showman for his Charleston with Kym Johnson. Noting that he looked and danced good judges called Donny a showman. Dancing in front of his wife and children Donny and Kym earned a score of 24.
Trying to rebound from the bottom two last week Michael and Anna performed a Bolero that judges compared to the economy saying that it is supposed to get better but hasn’t. However, Len did promise to give Michael a score higher than the four he had been receiving. Along with Len’s six the judges gave Michael and Anna a score of 16.
After paying a visit to last season’s resident cowboy Ty Murray, Louie and Chelsie performed a Country Two-Step that judges called more of Louie walking between Chelsie’s moves than dancing. Louie and Chelsie earned a score of 16 for their country dance.
The last couple to take the floor was Mya and Dmitry who also performed the seductive Lambada. Bruno called it erotic and exotic like a roller coaster to ride over and over again. Carrie Ann told Mya that she was on fire; and Carrie Ann and Len agreed the dance was amazing. Mya and Dmitry received two tens this week and a total score of 28.
The guest star for the Tuesday results show is Columbian pop star Shakira who will perform two songs.
