President Int’l Hockey Federation arrives Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, : The president Federation of International Hockey (FIH) Liando Nagray arrived here on Tuesday evening.

High-level hockey officials, including President Islamabad Hockey Association and organising secretary Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Gold Hockey Tournament, Syed Mustafain Kazmi accorded him warm welcome at the airport. Liando, who arrived in Lahore on late Monday is scheduled to stay in Pakistan till October, 17.

Talking to media at Islamabad airport, the president FIH said he felt very delighted to come here. He said he had come to Pakistan with high expectations and wanted to see lot of hockey activities here.

Lauding the Pakistan government’s efforts for improving security situation in the country, he said he was looking forward to positive hockey in Pakistan. He also appreciated Pakistan Hockey Federation’s (PHF’s) role in promoting the game in the country.

According to informed sources, Liando would be given briefing by Interior Ministry on Wednesday on security situation in the country. He is also scheduled to meet Sports Minister Pir Aftab Shah Jilani.

He is also expected to attend Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Gold Hockey Tournament as chief guest, starting from October 15, while he will stay in Lahore on October 16 and 17 to conclude his visit, the sources said.
