CEDAR RAPIDS -- A car headed west bound across the Second Avenue Bridge in downtown Cedar Rapids caught fire early Thursday night.
The driver smelled smoke and pulled over on the northern end of the bridge to discover flames coming from the vehicle. The driver was able to remove some items from the car, including a stereo, but within minutes the car was totally engulfed in flames.
The driver refused to comment, but Cedar Rapids Fire Department officials say that no one was hurt and that the fire was too severe for investigators to determine the cause or the origin of the flames.
