Was there a time you felt so alone – with no one to hear you cry – that you seriously contemplated suicide? When, during unexpected moments, you remember the most painful experience in your life, do you still want to run away? The heart is not a heavy-duty shock absorber, but sometimes I wish it is. Having weathered Tropical Storm Ondoy and the most devastating flood that overwhelmed Metro Manila for nearly half a century, I now share a greater empathy – but still would never understand the full measure of emotional trauma – with the survivors of the S.S. Titanic.

By chance, the Oscar-winning epic film with Leo and Kate is showing now on StarMovies in the Philippines, and perchance, in Taiwan. If I was there on that fateful maiden voyage, knowing me, I’d probably stayed in the ship until the last moment –rather than clawing my way to the lifeboats – then I would have died in the freezing waters of the Atlantic.

But if I survived – more to the point, if I were Rose(!), will I be able to keep my promise to Jack? Will my heart go on? If I made a vow to the one I love most in the world, I most certainly would try to keep it, but how can I stop the pain from coming back?

“Love can touch us one time, and last for a lifetime…”

Pain is a lesson of life and to remember that pain is to in some ways keep love and hope alive. If we can get through the rough times somehow the other side seems to be brighter.
To love is to be loved!!!
Great article, thanks.

Ironic but true...pain is in some ways to keep love and hope alive...It makes you wonder why, but I guess that's the way the world works...weird

Very nice article. Just remember no pain, no gain. We are not alone and without exception no one alive can honestly say that his or her heart has never been broken. The only gift that we have is the gift to forget and move on. Very nice.

But why is it that some people recover while become bitter throughout life?

In conjunction with Titanic; I still think about the helpless victims of 911 and how so so many lost there loved ones and having to raise up small children with out there spouses. Even til this day I wonder if a lot of them moved on.

Nothing can fill the void left by a father's death, but none can bring greater honor and humility to a boy than to be told that his father was a hero

You can't stop the pain of memories coming back but remember, your heart will go on as long as God wills it. I have been attacked by Satan himself
once trying to tear out my heart, he actually cut into my skin and left me
bleeding after I invoked Jesus to drive him away. Two other people saw the
devil trying to kill me. One died about a month later, the other one still
lives, they both came and told me they saw the devil trying to kill me. In
the morning, my cat was found dead with twin punchers in its neck, fangs of the snake the devil is but I survived and at times I still feel pain in my chest where I was cut by the devil's claw. It is no word of a lie. Story is published in REVELATIONS FROM GOD'S PARADISE, you can go back to it and read it. 13/10/2009.

That's really horrifying, but apparently it's not only God that works in mysterious ways

I guess its all about what we allow our mind to think. The mind being a medium of multiplying by many folds, what you allow it to process, shall give you resultant trauma or wisdom, based on what you chose to think.
