OK, not necessarily amnesty. However, it feels as if that is what is going on.

This morning, I heard on a radio talk show (Chio in the Morning P1!) that Michael Vick is getting his own television show to improve his image?? That is insane! Why would we reward someone who abused animals? Despite sounding like a crazy woman, abusing any living thing, animal or human, shows a person's true regard for life and quality of life. Michael Vick should have NEVER been taken back by the NFL and NEVER given his own television show. Shame on you, BET!

Vick is quoted to have said "I just want people to really get to know me as an individual," Vick said last week. "What I want to do is change the perception of me. I am a human being. I've made some mistakes in the past, and I wish it had never happened." (O'Neill, NBC.com)

What is that supposed to mean? Does that mean what he wants us to see is his perspective, to justify the abuse of animals? There is no retribution in the abuse of living creatures, regardless of species. It is like granting amnesty to a rape suspect. Speaking of which...

Roman Polanski, famous for the movie Rosemary's Baby, was charged with raping a 13-year-old girl in 1977. According to CNN.com, Polanski left the country and lived in France since (Duke). Rape is a terrible crime and should be punishable by law. However, an update article said that he owes his victim $500,000 from a settlement back in 1993. I believe the story takes a turn here, because now the rape victim's greed may come into play. Still, Polanski should either go to jail or pay the settlement. Pay what is due to the victim, be it time in jail or your facny out-of-court settlement.

In the end, injustice speards through the country. Even though Vick did his time in jail for abusing those dogs, he tarnished his own self image by contributing to terrible "sport". He used to be a role model, but when you add dog abuser to your identity, it should be game over. As for Polanski, he contributed amazing, and now, classical films. However, art should never impede on justice. He should be accountable for his actions and he has been runnig from responsibility since 1977.
