Afghan police investigate at the site of a blast in Kabul

The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the bomb blast in the Indian embassy this morning. It was more powerful than the earlier one in July 2008. The blast in front of the embassy in Kabul killed at least 17 and injured over 80 – there was no Indian casualty except injury to a couple of ITBP (Indo Tibetan Border Police) personnel stationed there as guards. The blast occurred in the morning. It seems a suicide bomber rammed his vehicle against the wall and the resultant explosion of an IED killed the passersby and Afghan security staff.
