An 85-year old Australian Arthur Hesket, on his first flight overseas, suffered a heart-stoke in the air and died. Air France wants the family to cough up $20K to bring the body back to Australia. The death was, apparently, due to excessive temperature in the cabin. It seems that the cabin temperature was well over the permissible limits for as much as one and half hours after take-off. It was a case of malfunction of the on board air-conditioning equipment and obviously the ground crew is to blame for improper maintenance. The aircraft had to be landed at an unscheduled intermediate airport to offload the ill Arthur Hesket for treatment. The dead body should have been sent back by Air France without asking for payment. The flight was a code-share flight between Quantas and Air France but neither wants to take the responsibility.
