Kabul blast outside India embassy

At least seven people have been killed and more than 60 injured in a large explosion in the Afghan capital, Kabul.

The blast occurred near the interior ministry office and the Indian embassy.

Officials said it appeared to be a suicide attack. An Indian embassy official told the BBC a part of a security wall had been damaged.

Kabul has witnessed a number of attacks in recent months. Last month six Italian soldiers were killed in a bomb attack on a military convoy.

Most of the attacks have targeted international forces or government offices.

DEADLY KABUL ATTACKS Sept 2009: Suicide bomber kills two civilians at the main airport Aug 2009: Suicide car bomber kills 10 people in an attack on a convoy of Western troops. Aug 2009:Suicide bomb outside Nato headquarters kills seven people Feb 2009:Suicide attackers kill 19 people in three government buildings Jul 2008: Suicide car bomber kills 41 at Indian embassy

The cause of the latest blast was not known.

Television pictures showed charred vehicles at the site and ambulances speeding to the location.

Nirupama Rao, India's foreign secretary told reporters, he believed "the suicide bomb was directed against the Indian embassy".

Three Indian paramilitary troops guarding the embassy received minor shrapnel injuries, he said.

The blast, which occurred at 0827 local time (0353 GMT), appeared to be the work of a suicide bomber.

One reporter at the scene said he had seen two cars damaged at the site of the blast.

A policeman at the scene told Reuters news agency that the explosion happened inside a car.

"I was busy working when the blast happened. The windows were shattered, I ran into my tent," a worker at a nearby construction site said.

In July 2008 a suicide bomber has rammed a car full of explosives into the gates of the Indian embassy in Kabul, killing 41 people and injuring 141.

This is such saddened news. You would think that from what had happen back in November from the last unfortunate incident that India would have high security measures. Thank goodness that it wasn't more people then what had taken place.

This is a pretty disturbing piece of news, since it shows just how much reach these bombers have and how easily they are able to breach security in the capital. It looks like the country is slipping out of control.

and obama is still "thinking"

One more bomb attack is hardly something to worry about but thinking can often be a useful thing before you jump into a quagmire. You know I'm not saying he'll get it right or that I support him, but thinking can be important.

A lot, because no one else wants to make the tough decision necessary to make success possible there, or make the commitments and compromises necessary. There are ways to solve the issue, but the political powers that be are too busy in fighting and tryng for political advantage to actually do them.
