Much Ado about 'The Body Issue'

US tennis star Serena Williams has now added fuel to fire by posing nude for the cover of the latest issue of the ESPN magazine. She had let loose her tongue during the US Open tournament in which she was ousted by Kim Clijsters of Belgium who finally went on to win the crown. Serena Williams had already been penalized $10,000 for her rude behavior on the field and, if the International Tennis Federation wants to take action for her latest photo ops of ESPN nude cover, she might be fined up to $500,000 apart from being barred from participation in the Australian Open next year.

If she wants to pose nude I don't think the tennis association should have any say about that. It is her body and her personal time.
Reply By spike-breaker08 spike-breaker08 | about 1 month ago
That's right!!! why would they sanction her for that?
Posted By prabirghose prabirghose | about 1 month ago
ladym and spike - tennis is a game of gentlemen nd gentlewomen ... even when they grunt excessively, it is frowned upon by the judges and the spectators do not want thir idols to be anythng but perfect ...
Posted By SharonPrimack SharonPrimack | about 1 month ago
It is her body but she should have not taken upon herself to posed in the nude on account of anger and frustration and not knowingly that there would be consequences to face with the judges.
Posted By cloud9devine cloud9devine | about 1 month ago
I think Serena is making a big mistake here but like SharonPrimack says,it's her body. she could do whatever she wants. You think she'd WANT to act a little more wisely after her tennis drama last month..but ohh no,this would just add fuel to the fire.I wonder what her parents feel about her decision?

The ESPN issue in concern is 'The Body Issue'. So, it better be about her 'body' (not her tennis), right? The PIC in question is posted here!

wht the? who are they to interfere in that??
this is crazy, her life!
Posted By prabirghose prabirghose | about 1 month ago
thanks myvox for the thumbnail ... and, mona - it is not only about her body but about the actions of a celebrity ... celebrities are always under the microscope and should not do anything to earn the disapproval of fans ...

I don't see anything wrong with this! This is her life, let her do what she wants. She isn't even completely nude! She is beautiful, let her show whatever she wants this is not a tennis matter by any means!

Posted By cloud9devine cloud9devine | about 1 month ago
hahahha,dr_ismail!

Yes, this is a FREE country!! To a certain extent..(Ok, ya'll, now please join me in the tune of "It's My Party", (I can Cry if I want To), just change up the words--- it's her body, she can flaunt if she wants to, flaunt if she wants to, flaunt if she wants to..
Reply By myVox myVox | about 1 month ago
And flaunt she will! Especially when she's being paid to do that!
Posted By spike-breaker08 spike-breaker08 | about 1 month ago
why would they punish or sue her for this? There's nothing wrong about it.
Posted By Punditty Punditty | about 1 month ago
Serena was out of line when she mouthed off *on* the court, but as others have said, it's her body and her life. I think the photo is very tasteful and shows what a strong, beautiful body Serena has. The Tennis Federation would be wrong to punish Serena for this...maybe they should ask ESPN to not cover tennis events instead. If anything, ESPN is just as much a "culprit" as Serena Williams, but I personally see nothing wrong with the photo. Quite stunning, actually.
Reply By myVox myVox | about 1 month ago
Interesting viewpoint Punditty, to punish ESPN, if ever somebody ever needs to be punished!
Posted By rroxas08 rroxas08 | about 1 month ago
It is her own decision to do this, does she sign any paper with tennis association to prohibit her form posing this way. What she did with that referee is indeed very wrong but posing nude for a magazine don't violate anything, besides her talent will remain the same to begin with.
Posted By Vinnymac11 Vinnymac11 | about 1 month ago
I cant believe ESPN the magazine has an athlete posing nude on the cover.
Posted By cloud9devine cloud9devine | about 1 month ago
Vinnymac11, they need readers!! this may be the ONLY WAY to get more people to BUY the magazine. Their sales may be slipping.
Reply By myVox myVox | about 1 month ago
Vinnymac11/cloud9devine,

Actually "The Body Issue" is ESPN's launch magazine. So, publicity helps, you see!
Posted By prabirghose prabirghose | about 1 month ago
wonderful reactions folks - actually, she had changed the way tennis is played ... her short dresses and the cameras focused on showing the hidden beauties set a trend that others quickly picked up ... we might next see other tennis beauties baring all in the next edition of 'the body issue'...

Posted By cloud9devine cloud9devine | about 1 month ago
Well,Serena wouldn't be the FIRST tennis player to do this, ya know..didn't Anna Kournikova have nude pics published somewhere as well? I mean,I know she's a foreigner but the tennis association didn't think TOO HIGHLY of her either when she did it.
Posted By elmiko elmiko | about 1 month ago
i don't see the big deal about her posing nude. shes got a great body. shes hot
Posted By prabirghose prabirghose | about 1 month ago

shoo-- ya'll know how much WORK it took Serena to LOOK LIKE THAT??? Many. This just motivates me to keep on taking care of myself and do what I can to maintain a healthy life. She didn't get that way overnight, ya'll.
Posted By prabirghose prabirghose | about 1 month ago
cloud9devine - yes, she really had to go to great lengths to create a body like that and then keep it fit by playing tennis ... she turned pro in 1995 ...
