Controversial filmmaker Michael Moore, who rarely opens himself up to direct confrontation or critique of his one-sided opinions, ventured onto the set of Hannity’s America on FOX and exposed himself to be a partisan hypocrite. Sean Hannity pressed Moore to explain how one of the biggest beneficiaries of the capitalist system could be one of its harshest critics. Moore, a multi-millionaire, refused to answer any direct questions about his earnings or net worth and tried several times to avoid answering by changing the subject.
Round One to Hannity.
In their discussion of the economic meltdown Moore wanted to put the entire blame on Wall Street while absolving the millions of homeowners who signed adjustable-rate mortgage agreements with apparent complete ignorance of future adjustments and/or future balloon payments. As Hannity rightly pointed out, it was organizations like ACORN, and NGOs like Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae which helped people who were unable to afford the mortgage contracts they were signing. Overly aggressive non-bank lending institutions also played a major role in looking the other away to bad credit risks in order to approve the loan and package it in a security.
Round Two to Hannity.
In their discussion of the Afghanistan War, Moore tried to insinuate that the United States was merely fighting a small band of hoodlums that were no match for the United States, ignoring the fact that the Al Qaeda have trained and recruited thousands upon thousands of jihadists. As Hannity pointed out these terrorists, funded and armed by countries like Iran and Syria for years, are intent on killing as many Americans as possible. Their asymmetrical war tactics include wearing civilian clothing, hiding amongst civilians while firing at U.S. troops, hiding armaments in mosques and schools, suicide bombings and deploying hidden explosive devices on roads and thoroughfares. Hardly acts of courage in combat.
Round Three to Hannity.
It should be pointed out that the reason that Moore agreed to appear on Hannity’s America was that he lost a bet to Hannity regarding whether President Bush would be impeached or resign before the end of his second term. Moore’s price for losing the bet was that he was to stand in front of the White House all day with a sign that read, “Sean Hannity Was Right”. But, of course, Moore was too cowardly to hold up his end of the bargain and displayed a photo-shopped picture of himself holding the sign with a “photo” of the White House in the background. True testament to his hypocrisy.
Hannity wins in a three round TKO.
