Afghanistan Pakistan Border: The Taliban which way did they go?

Security Adviser Calls Troop Increase McChrystal's Opinion Oh yeah? At Least 10 Coalition Troops Killed in Eastern Afghanistan

Taliban return to power unlikely - White House aide Shut up and keep your destructive opinion to yourself!

Don't be so friggen stupid! Unless Afghanistan does their own fighting and shows they do not want Sharia law as they appear to you better believe the so called Taliban Al Qaeda or whatever you want to call them are going to prevail. Actually controlling the farce of an Afghanistan Government is not even secondary. It is unnecessary. They can and are controlling the country right from where they are!

We keep hearing the BS that Al Qaeda is greatly diminished! Who the hell cares and what the hell does it matter? Who ever we are fighting they are obviously doing fine without Al Qaeda. This is their turf and there are millions more of them than us they will not run out of martyr's to make us join the graveyard of Nations! We have to get out! The relationship between the US and Pakistan is one of mutual need and is growing. There are campaigns on both sides of the border and we should strengthen the bond not weaken it by putting our troops on their soil. Let them do their thing!

I continue to beat a dead horse but again reiterate though it is a waste of time that like Afghanistan Pakistan is largely tribal but they want a central Government and freedom from the Taliban to continue to have their tribal customs and freedoms and are fighting for it! NATO go home! Scale back! Get out! We keep hearing how tough Afghani's are. Prove it! Pakistan has shown what they want and so has Afghanistan. Can't we take a friggen hint?

We keep hearing how we must get to Taliban moderates and Afghan moderates well get with it do it now and let them fight for their country. Moderate tribesmen in parts of militant-ravaged north-west Pakistan are challenging Taliban extremists threatening to overrun their area, in what will develop into a mass resistance movement. That is what Afghanistan must do!

America and NATO must get out! We have been there over 8 years, twice as long as WW2! If Afghanistan wanted freedom from the Taliban they would already be trained and fighting for it instead of just letting themselves be killed as pawns. Get rid of corrupt Karzai!

Why are the Afghan's not forming Lashkar's and killing the Taliban if they want their freedom from them? * Have a fair election, get rid of Karzai,Feed and supply Afghan's to fight if they want their freedom as Pakistan is and get out! That is the only answer not less or more troops.

Our soldiers did their job leave now with heads held high not our tails between our legs like in Saigon! Give food and supplies to the Afghans and if they want their freedom they will fight for it like the Pakistani tribes are. We should be helping Pakistan who has proved they want their freedom from Taliban and Sharia law. Don't add more troops this is Afghanistan graveyard of Nations. Cheat history get out now!

Amidst the wasted American and NATO deaths the flagrantly corrupt Karzai Selection continues as the Afghan election recount begins; 2 more NATO deaths Get Out Now!

They do need to get a clue, I just heard on the news yesterday that some of the local villages are taking up with the Taliban now. That is a really bad sign.

No excuses, women and children deserve bread fresh no matter where they are from. The bakers deserve more negritude and the cultures of the world need that driving aspect of validity that accepts who we are, and for what it's worth, how we are. To validate the African-American culture is to openly engage our friends around the world who may differ in some way, shape, or form - from black skin to every color of the unconditional rainbow, acknowledging and creating space for open communication between nations and countries across the Earth where families feel safe and kindness is contagious, cool, as motivated men are gay as can be.

I'm a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and I assure you that all that is happening now is what always happens when we declare war, soldiers are filling bodybags and graves, and politicians and special interest groups are filling their pockets and bank accounts, at the expense of the troops, which are considered expendable, the definition of expendable to the politicians and the special interest groups is profitable.

I thank you for your service! It sickens me to see the likes of me you my brothers and sons and all the rest of the Patriots who have served our country be abused and ill used as pawns for politicians and others for political and financial gain. It happens and I just heard McCain doing it but I do not like it at all.

I certainly agree! Since Bush and his Cheney and Rummy's lies to get us to war I will always trust American's but I no longer trust the Governments reasons or motivations in going to war despite the rhetoric!

JMS, Pakistan is not a largely tribal society, the extreme north area where waziristan is, which is a tiny part of the country, is largely tribal,m but even these tribal affiliations are slightly difference from what you think. The majority of the country is either agricultural or then urban.
  • Posted By jmsjoin jmsjoin | 2 months ago
Got it! I know the majority of it is not but the Waziristan area is. Of course I am ignorant as to proportions. I want to see the cooperation coming from Pakistans' tribal leaders coming from those in Pakistan.

I learned today that there are less than 100 AQ fighters in Afghanistan, and that AQ is little better off in Pakistan. Consider this. The biggest argument I have heard, and one that I have made myself, is that a US pullout guarantees an AQ move in. I'm reconsidering that view. If we withdraw, whatever faction wins in Afghanistan will know that hosting AQ invites US strikes. Perhaps they will keep AQ out themselves, because it's in their self-interest to do so.

Tom you're a riot! I have been putting something together on this. After listening to Max Cleland, Biden, and learning Obama says there is a place there for the Taliban I believe we can do this now. The Taliban said they will keep Al Qaeda out so we should listen to Cleland and Biden get out and help Pakistan. I can see a win there now despite the damage the idiot Bush did.

That is what makes Al Qaeda so dangerous: it isn't large. But those 100 people can execute more damage than you or I could think of. I did a research paper on this once and came to the conclusion that they exist as amorphous, mobile and small groups that can act as the seed for long term planning. They might not even know half the other militant groups that exist out there. That's why it is possible to come to a political settlement with some of those groups and still alienate al-qaeda.
