Remembering a good concert

At a two months distance, it is not quite fancy to write about a concert. But, I will take the risk to do it, It could be a challenge of the online journalism: finding creative reasons to go over a temporary moment of mind laziness.

But, let's move to the story. During the 12th IAAF World Championships in Athletics Berlin 2009, held during August 15-23, at the end of each competition day were organised various concerts and discussion, with the background smog of the wurst and the sound of the beer bottles, from the small kiosks set up in the area of the Brandenburg's Gate.

Saturday evening, August 23, one of the scheduled concerts was Asaf Avidan's and the Mojos an Israeli band I've read about and hear about on youtube or myspace but never at a live concert. And, nothing compares with a live concert, mainly when it is about a very interesting mix of punk, rock with some blues accents, and with a sounding poetry - in English, as being, according to the artists "very natural to do so".

Even I prefer to have my own opinions - which are not exclusively easy to translate into words - about music, this excerpts from a Ha'aretz review about the Jerusalem' band "A voice that does not let you stay indifferent" is very true. An artist with an outstanding voice - Asaf Avidan - in a harmonious dialogue with the percussion and the sound of the cello. The advantage of an open air, live concert - even the audience was not very impressive - is to become a very part of the music itself: no second thoughts or time to think about anything else, because it is your musical intelligence working and nothing else matters. Situation available for a good concert, as it was the case here.

And, maybe a news: September 13, they signed an exclusive contract with Global Chrysalis Music Publishing.
