Pet bear mauls owner’s wife

Allentown : PA : USA | about 1 month ago

This is the sad story of Kelly Ann Walz, the 37-year old wife of Michael Walz the President of the World of Reptiles Inc. She was mauled in the cage by their pet bear when she entered the cage to clean it. She threw some meat to keep the bear distracted but, unnoticed by her, the bear pounced upon her. Normally, cages have two compartments – the animal is moved o one portion while the other is being cleaned. Somehow, that was not followed. Her children saw the horrible incident and shouted for help. By the time help arrived, Kelly Ann had died. The bear was shot down. Michael had a business of keeping wild animals as pets in his farmhouse in the mountains of Pocono – these included a lion, cougar, tiger, black bear, and leopard etcetera. He was licensed to keep the animals as pets.
