"The new polls were released last night for the up and coming week of college football. After the top 4, which remained the same, there was a pretty good shake up in the field. This is where the problem exsist. We have all these so called experts that rank teams 1 thru 25 before the season starts, based solely on their finish last year. Most of these so called experts have never seen the bottom 15 teams play if their team is ranked higher. So if you know nothing about a team how can you promote something you know nothing about, in the business world your butt would be fired on the spot.

Please stay with me here, before you draw the conclusion that it's just a game and we have bigger problems in the world to solve. WRONG, it's a multi million or should I say a multi billion dollar industry the last 4 weeks of the season. That's when all the bone head decisions that were made in the beginning really come to the surface. You see if you know anything about the BCS system (Bowl Championship System) Then you know you are trying to get into the top 10 in rankings so you can play in on of the BCS bowls in the end.

These BCS bowls are rotated each year so the championship game moves from state to state, may I add bringing in millions of revenue dollars to the city and state that host. If you aren't hosting the championship game you are still hosting a major bowl.

Back to the major topic. I want even go into the young men and women who make up 98% of these teams never see a dime and I know the argument that they get an education, Bull, I don't think theres a big demand on basket weaving in today's society. These young people can't even get a book for free or any perks that would save them money. That's a whole other story.

Until we take the human element completely out of the process it will continue to be flawed. If enough graduates vote from Florida, guess who's going to be number UNO. Michigan same thing, Penn state same thing, Alabama same thing. Enough of this bi-partisan voting. Maybe the band members from each school should have a vote and the school with the biggest band wins.

We have to have a playoff system put in place, so the true champ can be crowned, having four weeks off from the last game to your bowl game diminishes the flow of the season. With all these college graduates out here surely they can come up with a simple playoff system. Go Dawgs

I agree to a certain extent, but then you have to figure the college football season would drag on far longer than it already does if a playoff system was implemented!

Not really, most are over the last week of november, the championship game is after Jan 1. Thats plenty of time for a playoff, better yet drop 1 or 2 of the cupcake games played early on.

If they cut some of their cupcake games, and eliminate the 4 or 5 weeks after season to play bowl games. their woul be plenty of time

The NCAA could implement a playoff system, but that is not the reason why bowl games were invented. The purpose of bowl games is to attract tourists. When the Rose Bowl was created over 100 years ago, the reason to have the game was for people who rooted for the 2 specific colleges in the Rose Bowl would shell out money once they got to Pasadena. No matter if the majority of people in this nation, including myself, wants a playoff system, the NCAA will keep the bowls status quo at least until the next BCS contract runs out.
