Katy Perry drags herself away from Russell Brand to hang out with Rihanna in Paris

She’s spent the last few days holed up in London with new man Russell BrandRussell Brand but yesterday Katy Perry left him behind to catch up with her friend Rihanna at Paris Fashion Week.

The I Kissed A Girl singer caused a stir when she arrived at the Jean-Paul GaultierJean-Paul Gaultier show with the 21-year-old pop star.

The pair are both famous for their bold fashion statements and they didn’t disappoint last night.

Katy opted for an elegant black satin dress and Christian LouboutinChristian Louboutin heels while Rihanna went all out with a raunchy Gaultier creation which consisted of a black jacket with a huge cut-out at the front with a matching bra and black PVC trousers.

Rihanna and Katy became close after sharing a holiday in Barbados together in April.

Katy, 24, joined the Umbrella star in her home country for a beach break which saw them soak up the sun and enjoy speedboat rides.

She has previously described Rihanna as a ‘cool chick’.

She added: ‘Of course I consider her a friend, but it's not like I'm there, making a big deal of it, because I feel weird about that type of stuff.

'I'm trying to always be there for my friends. She's a really cool chick. I love her style... She's one of those unaffected people.

'We're friends and we're both kind of on this crazy roller coaster, and... it's nice to have good girlfriends.’

The Paris trip came after Katy went public with her romance with Russell.

She was snapped leaving his flat on Saturday morning after the couple went out partying together.

Russell, 34, followed just behind Katy and - like a true gentleman - was even carrying her overnight bag for her.

The pair are believed to have hooked up after weeks of phone flirting. Russell then sent Katy a poem he had written and she sent him a photo of her cleavage.

He then invited the curvy singer to join him for a seven day break in Thailand last week.

While Katy declined to name who she was spending her holiday with, she hinted at a 'secret' on her Twitter micro-blogging page.

She wrote: 'After a week in magical Thailand I'm ready to face the real world again.

'Been schooled on Morrissey, Oscar WildeOscar Wilde & Peter SellersPeter Sellers... inspired.'

Russell is well known for his love of the three men and has even named his cat after Morrissey.

Writing on Thursday, she added: 'Pssst... I've got a secret. HUGE news coming in a couple days! No, my ego is not prego.'

The couple first met over a year ago at the MTV Video Music Awards, but they had already shared a kiss before their romance began.

Katy smooches Russell during a cameo appearance in his new film Get Him To The Greek, which sees the comic reprising his role as womanising rocker Aldous Snow from Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

And Katy has already confessed that she's in love with her new beau.

During an interview with Scott Mills on Radio 1 last year, Katy recalled their first meeting and said: 'I met Russell brand who I'm in love with. I love him. He's so great. He's got the worst sense of humour in the best sense of the way.'
