Bollywood actor Amitabh listens to a question in Mumbai

Bullets usually kill and, except in fiction, we seldom hear of anyone surviving a direct bullet shot to his heart. That is what has actually happened - a 5-rupee coin saved a man’s life! The video parlor owner was sitting with his friends when some hooligans came and shot the three of them. This person fortunately had a 5-rupee coin in his purse that he kept in his shirt pocket. That coin saved him. The bullet ricocheted off the coin and fell to the ground. One would remember Amitabh Bachchan in the film Deewar – his coolie badge No. ‘786’ stopped an assassin’s bullet and gave him a new lease of life.

I don't know about bullets, but led birdshot has on occasions hit my hand
and harmlessly bounced off. Other people I know have been hit by the same
pellets which enter under their skin and in some cases stay lodged in for the rest of the person's life. With me, they ricochet and fall to the ground without even grazing me. 6/10/2009.
