OK - this one has my name "written all over it." I just read a piece on the website www.thatsfit.com about coffee. Specifically, the writer, Martha Edwards, states that the afternoon cup of coffee adds weight. Edwards' article is based on research done by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. The department studied coffee drinkers at Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks for 11 weeks and found that most people add milk, sugar, etc. to their cup o' joe - few drink it black.
78 percent of the people who drank coffee at Dunkin Donuts added milk and/or sugar (an average of 69 calories per cup). Of those who went to Starbucks, 2/3 of them drank "upscale" coffee; this added to the calories.
I love coffee - I would also like to lose about 5 pounds. Ut-oh!!
