It wasn't that long ago that David Letterman was taking cheap shots at Sarah Palin and making sexual remarks involving her youngest daughter and Yankee third baseman Alex Rodriguez. His audience seemed to get a good laugh out of it and the Left yukked it up.

Fast forward to this past Wednesday and his bombshell admission Here is Mr. Letterman once again getting belly laughs from his audience at some stupid sexual remarks involving creepy sex. This time, Letterman jokes about how he knocked off several of his staffers and how he was almost extorted out of $2 million dollars to keep the information a secret. Pretty funny stuff..

So, now the joke is on Letterman. The smart aleck that thought it was funny for a young girl to be "Knocked-Off" by a grown man in between innings of a baseball game, is now crying foul because he got caught with his pants down. The Discovery Channel & Animal Planet have already put in bids for the video.

This guy has the gall to play the victim when it was he who cheated on his wife and took advantage of several of his co-workers. He refers to his trysts as "Creepy". What's creepy is the thought of this pervert engaging in sex with anyone.

What is creepy is how his wife has remained silent and is still supporting this jerk. What is creepy is how he goes on his show and tries to make light of his infidelity for the sake of a few laughs and cheap ratings. He goes on to say, "I need to protect my family", "I need to protect my job". A sorry excuse for not being a man.

There is a level of hypocrisy with this guy that is hard to swallow. He jokes about a woman's under age daughter having sex with a grown man and politicians that do the same thing he has done - and when he gets caught, he tries to play the victims role.

I am just curious to see if there will be any cost in viewership and whether his wife comes out and makes any comments. I am also curious to know if the woman involved in this scandal will now go in the witness protection program.

It was shameful how the people in the studio audience were laughing during Lettermans admission of adultery. It is low class and anyone that attended that show should be ashamed of themselves.

I think this guy should be booted off the Network already. He is a creep and he could use the extra time to "Knock-off" the rest of his staff .

Another story that I question as to its authenticity at this stage in the desperation with respect to the political arena today, since Mr. Letterman is clearly nothing more than an Obama PR machine also due to network ownership. And also the claims that his ratings were up since it appears more and more Americans are canceling their cable subscriptions at this point, and late night television has far fewer viewers in this country overall.

And Mr. Letterman in the manner this was revealed to a nationwide audience rather than a simple statement just goes to show that this entire "impromtu" revelation was more staged and directed than his comedy routines.

And in the New York papers it is evident that a huge public relations machine is behind this in some manner. Even using a so-called Syracuse University professor who claims to be an "expert" in "pop culture" giving his two cents on how this will affect his long term career.

Appears both an aim to gain sympathy for Mr. Letterman, using his show than as another public forum for public consumption due to his clear political activism on behalf of the globalists that own CBS who use partisan politics for ratings and propaganda on what is now occuring in Washington. Which is not at all a partisan issue, but rather one of lack of acknowledgement of our true form of government, and even a cursory adherence to our Constitution at this point.

Like using Palin and her personal life also for political fodder, rather than some of her ludicrous positions and those of 99% of them now in Washington as opposed to the "representatives" and "statesmen" they were and are elected and supposed to be.

This is just another "distraction" story, once again, in attempts to take the focus of the American people who are still viewing any television with a political content off their continued outrage at what's occurring in Washington.

Sort of like the weeks of Ana Nicole garbage, as during the last Bush years. Collusion of the media and those in the "entertainment" field who are owned by those global entrpreneurs who are profitting off these agendas at the American public's ultimate expense.

This is, after all, a legal matter and a personal one between "Dave" and his wife. And that he would use such a matter for ratings and spin doctoring, just goes to show how orchestrated this all was from the outset.

Haha You honestly think that this is part of some grand scheme of Washington to focus attention on adultery in an industry that probably is filled with it? That's just plain out silly. Thanks for making me laugh in the morning.

I do agree with you there are some interesting owner structures in media, but they have other means to express themselves than this.

I thought the same thing, that he had some nerve going after a teenager, while he clearly had no problem with having sex with numerous staff employees.

But, as I said back then, he had nerve speaking ill about Sarah's daughter, when his own son was born 5 years before he married the mother.

If Letterman is a victim of extortion, then is he not a victim of extortion?

He doesn't need to make himself look like one, the guy trying to extort him did it all by himself.

And it's funny that you used teh word creep, considering he called himself that a couple of times in the show.
Reply By Redhanded101 Redhanded101 | about 1 month ago
A,

Like always, the mainstream media twisted the headlines and made the story about extortion instead of his philandering and sexacapades with staffers. CBS needs to pull the plug on thi once and for all. I'd still like to see his wife come and out and make a statement or simply walk away from this creep.
Reply By amalgam80 amalgam80 | about 1 month ago
The only possible crime to have been committed is teh extortion attempt at the moment, when his staffers start coming out an suing him, then we can talk about that crime, don't you think?

Last time Ichecked adultery, not a criminal offense. Could you imagine how many Republicans woudl end up in prison if it were?

I'm sure you'd like to see a lot of things, I'd like to see politicians get treated like politicians and entertainers get treated like entertainers and journalist get treated like journalists, but I don't get to.

I get to see journalist becoming entertainers, entertainers becoming better journalists and entertainers being treated as if they were in some sort of office that they can be voted out of.

amalgam80 - just curious... do you have any morals or are you just reading Red's articles to play the critic? I'm asking because you have yet to find one bit of positivity in any of the articles Red writes and if you disagree so vehemently - one might wonder why you so religiously follow Red's writings?

Letterman is a scumbag and even if you believe he's funny; and even if the person is wrong to have attempted blackmail; and even if it didn't involve minors... it shows a level of character in the individual and a level of shallowness that he used an audience again to belittle the issue.

Letterman has become a bit of a joke, and even more a joke - that anyone would use his show to try and make it less than it is. An apology in print would have acheived the same end result and not have placed the situation front and center.

Now, we all get to watch as all the ladies he banged go to court to sue for sexual discrimination for feeling pressured into having sex due to his authority over them. Great, such a role model. You'd better get off the Palin bashing bus if you're supporting this dirt bag.

Don't talk about my morals, if not you, then people on your side of the political spectrum supported torture. And some still do.

And I have never cheated on anyone EVER, but have been cheated on many times. I've been in Letterman's wife's shoes.

I'm pretty sure you'd better throw Pelosi under the bus in the torture debate before me... she DEFINITELY was privy to more knowledge than a simple citizens like myself...

Sorry for the morals comment...I don't have any reason to think you lack them - unlike Letterman.

OH so that's what really happened. Letterman said, have sex with me or you're fired. I didn't know that, I just wrote on Red's article because Red said that Letterman was not a victim of extortion at the same time saying he was.

Also why are you against my right, given to me by the first amendment? lol, jk. Just a jab at conservatives.

When did Letterman come out and say he was a role model?

And have his former staff members come out and sued his for sexual harrassment because of this issue yet? I haven't heard about that.

Cause I heard about the extortion attempts from a CBS producer, but not the sexual harrassment cases.

Also, did you guys hate Letterman this much before Obama start showing up on his show, and before the conservative media started telling you all the reasons to hate him?

An apology in print would have have achieved what? What did Letterman apologize about exactly that he should have put in print? "I'm sorry America, um did guy from my own metwork tried to extort me, I'm sorry".

Would you like to get rid of Limbaugh from his show for being a druggie, how about Glenn Beck from his show for being racist? How about O'Reilly from his show, what was O'Reilly guilty of again, I don't remeber? I know it had something to do with a staffer? I just can;t recall what it was? Maybe you can help me with this.

sexual harrassment - not discrimination - sorry.
Posted By snail snail | about 1 month ago
I am not sure I see him victimizing himself at all. It seems rather to me he is doing the exact opposite. I have to say his defense by being on the offense is a rather effective strategy to take the edge out of the power of the story. By bluntly going out and admitting the story is not there and he can clear away from any major brand or reputational damage.

Whether his act is despicable or not, I leave for others to discuss. I do think it is a private matter between him and his wife whether it is good or bad. Sleeping with your employees is not a very wise move of many reasons, but I do think he is far from alone here. One of the deceases of this world is to constantly point fingers at others and not cleaning up our own backyards.

One thing I do agree with Ross1776 is that there are far, far more important things we should focus on than whether David Letterman slept with his employees or not. To me that is is completely insignificant compared to our larger issues.

snail,

He shouldn't be poking fun at or making sexual references about others (Palin) if he has his closet full of skeletons. It just makes him look small.

He is a public figure and his behavior whether private or not should not be condoned. I am surprised that not more woman in this country are repulsed by this creep.
It is completely insignificant when some Hollywood Lib does it, but the media has a field day when it involves any Conservative.

The hypocrisy is clear and evident. Anyone who gives this guy a pass needs to have a refill of moral values.
Reply By snail snail | about 1 month ago
I don't give him a pass at his jokes at all. All I am saying that we should focus our attention on bigger issues than if a comedian is committing adultery, or a politician commit adultery. His jokes about Palin are just disgraceful remarks from a desperate comedian trying to get the attention. By listening to them and even discussing them you give him the attention he wants. Bad publicity is almost more worth than good.

My main point is that we should stop giving this the attention at all including again discussing his comments about Palin's daughters. I really do not get why we have a discussion about adultery in the US or not, when people die in a war in Iraq and Afghanistan under questionable reasons that will affects us for a long time. Not to mention environmental issues that will probably destroy this earth if we do not start doing something about it.

The moment we do not give the attention to this, that is the moment we start moving towards something that will change this world. Whether Letterman is on CBS or not, couldn't affect this less. I for one do not watch his show in the first place. :-)

Least he had the guts to come out with it on his own terms instead of letting it run crazy around the media and interwebs =p

Letterman is a comedian, not a politician (like Palin was in 2008) seeking office. Sure, his behavior with some female staffers is less than admirable, but it appears to have been consensual.

I still think he's funnier than Leno or Conan. And he's not nearly as much of a hypocrite as that conservative blowhard and self-appointed moralist Bill Bennett, the compulsive gambler who lectures others on his limited and judgmental perspectives on right and wrong.

I'll keep watching Dave until he's no longer funny. Until then, he's still my favorite late-night comedian. And I always get a good laugh out of Bill Bennett, even when he's trying to be serious.

I get so bummed when a full length comment somehow gets lost...

Anyway - I don't have any idea if Letterman's sex was concentual or not - but I can absolutely tell you that there is an attorney somewhere (or 50) looking for the phone number of every single female staffer employed by Letterman in the last decade.

I'd love to get rid of Limbaugh - I imagine the majority of his listeners are either drunk or left leaning journalists looking for their next "I Hate Conservatives" or something about how embarassed they are by those horrible conservatives who live to torture muslims and deny health coverage... :)

Nonetheless - I'm just pointing out that you're Red's #1 fan...and as for Rush being a druggie - now THAT'S a first ... I have absolutely NEVER heard of an entertainer getting hooked on drugs! Wow- is that true?

It seems to me Orielly's incident is similar...I wish you men would learn to keep it zipped.

W4L: To tell you the truth I am a Redhanded fan. He is my go to person on this site. He is the closet thing to Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, Savage, and all the other conservatives that have a very colorful way of presenting their ideas here on Allvoices.

I like his command of the english language, as I do yours. And am very jealous of it.

That being said:

If he has the balls to say everything he says and how he says it, I think he should be able to take criticism on the same level as he dishes out. I wouldn't expect any less from him for my articles and criticism of me.

I learn to say things like "kool-aid" and "un-American" and "patriot" and "cronies" from Red.

I learn where to go to find the sources that Rush and Beck etc use.

And after the learning is complete, I get to practice my opinions as well, because Red doesn't back down. Red digs in more. And if you believe in yourself that much, I appreciate the debate and argument that much more.

Rush isn't here and Drudge isn't here, but Red, someone that in my opinion shares similar views, is here. And unlike Drudge and Hannity and Beck etc., Red has the ability to answer back, and he does.

On top of all that Red writes alot. So I get to debate with him alot too. I am a poilitical science and journalism major, with a background in economics and philosophy, through these engagments I get to practice things I am learning and things I have learned.

Basically, arguing is my life and from what I can tell, Red likes to argue as well. He hasn't backed down yet. And I love that about him.
