Strickland needs help from Republicans to patch $1 billion budget hole

Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland has been both applauded and pilloried for his decision to suspend the final year of an income tax reduction of 21 percent.

His supporters said it was a bold move, while his detractors said it was just a matter of time until he would do what Democrats do best, raise taxes.

He has to do what he has to do to keep the budget balanced so that Ohio doesn't go bankrupt like California.
