Just a few minutes ago in Denmark, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) denied both Chicago and Tokyo the opportunity to host the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. This leaves Rio de Janeiro and Madrid as finalists for the Games.

Chicago was denied despite the best efforts of President and Mrs. Obama to get the Games to come to their city. South America has never hosted the Olympics and some people believe this gives Rio the "inside track" as a finalist.
