STOP Exploratory mining in Socorro County New Mexico, For Beryllium/Bertrandite.
More and more our peoples rights and Sacred Land is being encroached upon.
The earth is a gift from God.
Exploratory Mining will Disturb our Sacred Ancestors burial grounds, Red Clay Canyon and our Sacred Earth, it is Hazardous to humans, wildlife and the environment. This mining can not be allowed for any reason most especially for the sole purpose of personal gain!!
Beryllium is an ore used in weapons of mass destruction, reactors, aircraft and space vehicle structures, mirrors and more. If Beryllium is found ... all out mining will be next.
The hazards of mining this ore, are toxic to humans causing Lung Cancer, and it binds to the soil. Mining will Disturb Sacred Land and Desecrate our Ancestors Burial Sites. Impacting and harming Wild Life, and Endangered Species like the Chiricahua leopard frog, the ovate vertigo snail and the Alamosa springsnail.
The Alamosa Springs Cienega is the only remaining example of an arid-land spring cienega intact and in good condition in SW N.M., with potential risk of cross contamination of aquifers, possibly altering delivery of ground water to the springs, and the environment.
This area is listed on the State Register of Cultural Properties (SR#512). The Sullivan Ranch is located in Socorro County New Mexico.
