Direct 'Brain' Access to the Internet?

Last year, a monkey that was wired up to a "robot arm" was able to control the arm through mind control alone... Now, scientists at the University of Utah are moving on to the next step - wireless control...

A wireless chip has been made that will be placed at a specific location inside the brain and it's hoped that the arm will be able to be controlled with no "hard-wiring" to it...

If this succeeds, the next step will be to place a chip inside the brain of a human, allowing "wireless" control of a prosthetic arm - future possibilities are being looked into - including wireless internet access controlled by "thought" alone...

wow.. why do we really need this? we are already getting fat.. don't u think that it would just make it worse if we didn't move to do anything just had our mind do it for us? I mean i completely understand the arm.. .for like paralyzed, or amputee's or something... .but internet?

The place I see this being used is when you're sitting somewhere with nothing to do do (waiting at the doctors office, getting work done on your car, on the bus, etc) where taking a laptop or netbook might not be feasible - just tap into the net and make the time useful...

I also wonder if accessing the internet while you're asleep - maybe as a learning tool - learn a new language, study for an exam, or ???

That's X-Men status right there. It's amazing how fast technology is growing. The internet isn't just taking over the world, but apparently, it's taking over the mind? That's unheard of.
