Just a little while ago I finished a new article titled “Why a Republican is My Favorite Person of the Day”. I was almost too happy to hear Lindsay Graham denounce the loons on his side of the political spectrum, not just the left side.
Lindsay Graham bad-mouthed Glenn Beck, called birthers crazy, criticized 24 hour news channels fairly, showed the ridiculousness of the “Obama is a Muslim” group and still came off intact with his conservative, Republican, American, capitalist credentials.
And as soon as I posted my article, I saw an article on the intelligence kryptonite, Rep. Michele Bachmann.
Bachmann (R-Minn.) spoke to Congress about "school based health clinics" (SBHC), labeling the clinics discussed in current House health care legislation as "sex clinics."
The crazy from Minnesota decided she would insult people’s intelligence by stating that this passage from section 2511 from the healthcare bill allowed for abortions for students and parents would never find out about it.
She read this passage from the bill:
SBHC services will be provides in accordance with Federal, State, and local laws governing-- (I) obtaining parental or guardian consent; and (II) patient privacy and student records, including section 264 of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 and section 444 of the General Education Provision Act;
And then said this:
The bill goes on to say what's going to go on -- comprehensive primary health services, physicals, treatment of minor acute medical conditions, referrals to follow-up for specialty care -- is that abortion? Does that mean that someone's 13 year-old daughter could walk into a sex clinic, have a pregnancy test done, be taken away to the local Planned Parenthood abortion clinic, have their abortion, be back and go home on the school bus that night? Mom and dad are never the wiser.
Just as the death panel accusation, this one is absolutely false.
No where in there is there anything that even remotely resembles abortion.
This is no doubt be repeated by conservative news sources, and if it fools enough of the readership, listenership, or viewership, then it will be debated just as passionately as the previous baseless accusations the right has flung at the left.
People will call each other liars. The news medias will play with our fears and emotions, the blogosphere will be consumed with insults and nothing of true worth will come out of it. All thanks to the lack of reading comprehension and an overactive imagination of Michele Bachmann.
Thanks for ruining my buzz from Lindsay Graham. Michele Bachmann you are my least favorite person in the world today.
