Rightwing lieing about Carter's comments on race

Does everyone who opposes Obama do it because they hate him and they are a racist? No, of course not and nobody (if anybody very few) on the left makes that case. See, that is a strawman position that the right states that the left is saying. The rightwing states that the left is playing some kind race card where if you are on the right and you disagree with Obama on say health care, then you must be a racist in the KKK. But again, that is a strawman because the left as a group is not stating that. I don't state that and yes neither does President Carter.

See, the rightwing have been out lieing on what President Carter stated about how some, but not all, of the hostility against Obama is based on racial feelings. Here is Carter in his own words, " I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack ObamaBarack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he's African-American." He did not state that all opposition to Obama is based on hatred and racism and he did not even state that all of the intensely demonstrated animosity was built on racism. If you think Carter is wrong and that none or virtually none of the opposition to Obama is racial, the fine, but let's examine what Carter actually said. I might quibble with the portion being overwhelming but let's be honest folks, those who say he is a secret Muslim are using code words.

Muslim is different, it is perceived as foreign and at least to some of the far right it might as well be the same as Arab. Much of the far right believe that not only Islam is wrong but that Muslims are practicing a form of Satanism. Now again, I am not saying of this all on the right or even the majority. If this is in fact not you then please by no means take offense. I am talking about the people who consider people like you not "real republicans" or people who call you RINOs or republicans in name only. The people who think John McCainJohn McCain is a socialist.

I don't agree with everything Obama does and nor do I blame you if you don't either. We have a right to criticize and oppose a president, so go ahead but let's not pretend there is not hatred (as was unfortunately against Bush also) against President Obama as expressed by such things as that he is a secret Muslim out to enforce Islamic law.

The fact is that on rightwing anti-Obama radio the Hannities, Limbaughs and their wannabes are saying that Carter stated that opposition to Obama is racism. Again, don't let them lie to you. Don't let them deceive you with blatant falsehoods because if you let them they will do it to you all day. Hannity says listen to him 3 hours a day, is that so you can't hear any alternative views that express his lies and distorations?

Remember talk radio isn't the voice of America, it is the voice of the most anti-Obama hardcore. it is the voice of 10-15% of Americans. The die hards who do not want to listen to any counter views because they view them not as wrong but possibly as evil. Those who disagree with Obama politely are considered traitors to the rightwing cause by these die hards.
