ISLAMABAD: German diplomat at Islamabad had admitted that US-led NATO forces have had faced bad experiences of "war on terror" in Afghanistan and Iraq, however, he defended that German troops had been sent there under the umbrella of united nation(UN). Dr.Gregor Schotten,first secretary for Press and economic affairs in German embassy at Islamabad, was talking to Tribal journalists in Islamabad.He said Taliban insurgency in Afghanistan has made war on terror much difficult for US-led forces.He projected the NATO withdrawal from Afghanistan without alternate political system a play-ground of internal conflicts which would again affect west.Schotten termed the early withdrawal as immature decision of US.Afghanistan would not be left on the mercy of Taliban,he added.Although,he urged the drivers of Afghan government that involve Taliban in the political process of Afghanistan.Responding to a question,he said newly elected German government would bring some drastic changes toward Afghanistan's policy, as it has been criticised in Germany. "Pakistan is the German alie and would not be left alone in the difficult times", Schotten reminded.Talking about internally displace persons(IDPs)in Pakistan Schotten said that 33 millions Euro had been released through different organisations to compensate displaced people.Answering a question, that Germans' reputation has been gradually decreasing among Pashtuns people for being the US coalition partner in Afghanistan Schotten said German government would respect the sympathies of Pashtuns people,adding and he would pass their views snd emotions to the German chancellor.He said that war to eliminate terrorism from the world would only be possible by joint efforts.Schotten admitted that the accused pilot of air craft used in 9/11 incident had got training in Germany and went to United States.He hoped that tribal journalists would be awarded scholarships by the German embassy in future.German famous investigative journalist and correspondent Financial Times for South Asia Britta Petersen and department of Journalism and Mass communicate teacher of Peshawar university professor Inam-ur-Rehman Pushkalawati were also present on the occasion.
