Police have arrested a 60-year old man who had kept his wife and three daughters in their 20s behind bars for seven long years ever since he moved into the house. He was afraid of their safety and apprehended that the girls might be raped if they ventured out of the house. He would bar all windows, switch off the electricity and lock the door from outside whenever he went out. The mother and three daughters were malnourished and wore torn clothes when rescued by the NGO. They were in a miserable condition. The man in his defence says that the mother is of unsound mind; hence he had to keep her locked in.
