A few months back, it seemed as though the Saturn brand would be saved. The Penske Group agreed to buy the struggling General Motors production and vehicles like the Ion and the VUE would "live to see another day." Now, however, the plug has been pulled on the Saturn.

Earlier today, Penske said that it could not find another manufacturer to take over building the Saturn brand. As a result, it walked away from further negotiations. According to GM, Saturn would have about a year to conclude operations.

As a Saturn owner since 2001, I find this news very sad. Saturn made a great product. I, for one, will miss it.

Soon the Car and automobile industry will crash... the Cars and trucks that American car manufacturers are creating are not what is in demand, and are WAY to expensive... American companies need to modernize

You are very right, nique. It's been both ridiculous and foolish to prop up the industries in place because the changing times dictate that these old machines are no longer a wise investment.

Poor Detroit. It surely did not need another blow to its' livelihood.

That's unfortunate, but I guess it kind of makes sense. The auto industry is really hurting, and Saturn isn't a major brand or seller. You don't see too many on the road at all. I'm sure there are more people out there who will miss the company. You gotta applaud them for providing economically affordable cars for the last several years.

It just seems like Saturn has always been perceived as being more reliable & better made than the rest of GM cars.

It is quite sad when one have to replace quality because quality is always irreplaceable.
