The Golden Toilet in China
China is celebrating its 60 years of becoming a Republic and, on the occasion, a $1 million six star public toilet has been thrown open in the Nan Yue Yuan Park in Guangzhou. The park itself costs around $40 million. The Golden toilet in this park would be free to use and there are two persons to manage it – one male and one female. It has pure gold fittings and the authorities are confident that no one would try to damage or steal any portion of it. It is a double storey building with superior quality of material like glazed tiles, mahogany fittings etcetera.

very well said john - obviously these are attempts to glorify someone ... it happens in india ... in the state of uttar predesh, the chief minister loves to see elephants all around her, carved out of stone ... there are thousands of statues of the pachyderms ... it happens to be the election symbol of her poliical party ... who kinows, she might also go in for a golden elephant in future ...
