President Obama Set to Lose 2012 Election

When President Barack Obama was running for office in 2008 the world was taken over by the idea of a young, African-American candidate that smoothed talked the masses. During his running he promised the American people a different future from the one painted by former President George Bush. In his speeches, he told the people that soldiers would be removed from Iraq, health care reform was on its way and addressed numerous other high profile issues.

However, now that the initial shock has passed and President Obama has settled into office many believe that he has done too much too fast and much to the dismay of the masses. It seems that every day we wake up and the headlines passing by our television screens are revealing another bank or car company that has been taken over by the American government. President Obama undoubtedly had amazing ideas coming into presidency. However, it seems at this point that his ideas were to big for his own good.

The popularity of President Obama upon his presidential victory was through the roof. Now, it is plummeting faster than the housing market. Many analysts and advisers feel that President Obama's changes were too fast and furious for the American public's liking. With these ideas in mind, numerous people believe that President Obama is in for a "Jimmy Carter like defeat" in the 2012 election. Only time will tell if Obama can make good on his promises and truly make a difference in America, otherwise he may want to start planning for his future outside of presidency.

It's 2009. He hasn't even had a full year in office yet.
  • Posted By Changez Changez | 2 months ago
Let him get a year in office under his belt and see how that works. Yes he may end up like carter, but oddly, Carter is one of the most popular and respected figures in the international stage, a Nobel prize winner and a respected commentator on international affairs. He is recognised as a man of integrity and goodwill as well as intelligence who had a bad domestic run. It's a shame that men like that aren't appreciated by the American voting public because they rock the boat.

Yeah, I like Carter. He didn't turn out to be the greatest President in history, but his life-long devotion to helping people makes him A number 1 in my book. I don't think there's an evil bone in his body.

maybe that is his problem changez, like carter he is more concerned about the "international stage" then he is about the the usa...which by the way is suppose to be his priority....not the rest of the world. we want a president who puts our interest first not running around trying to win a popularity contest as world president.

"It's a shame that men like that aren't appreciated by the American voting public because they rock the boat."

yeah what more can your expect from lasy, fat stupid americans...the rest of the world is so much more intelligent..after all their politicians are never corrupt , their media never lies.....and i am sure carters attitude toward israel has nothing to do with your high praise of him, not to mention his attitude toward the american people as being hateful racist

You'd be surprised to learn that I'm not as prejudiced as all that. I don't really have those kind of preconceived notions and having studied in the States and with a lot of American friends I recognise the good and the bad. But yes, you are right, when you say a lot of Americans are fat, stupid and lazy. It's a problem all over the world, not just there (except usually the fat part) and don't think I don't criticise my own country or other countries just as strongly.

For a lot of people it is hard to understand why Americans are that way because the US has the best of everything, from natural resources to constitutional norms. People should be educated and alert, aware of the needs of their country and the world.

Obama is aware of the needs of the US abroad because he recognises that Globalisation is a reality, not a myth (and because the US is engaged in 2 foreign wars). However, with regard to his domestic agenda, it looks like people are just opposing him for the sake of opposing him since the majority of his attention has been internal the last 9 months. Someone like Palin (w/e) will oppose him just because he's from another party, rather than on an issue basis.

If I were in your place I'd at least see what his policies are without branding them 'socialist' or 'anti-american' beforehand. The changes he is trying to consolidate were already well underway, and I think he cares more for the poor than Bush ever did. Bush was a war-criminal and did far more to hurt the US internally and abroad than a lot of people recognise.

and i want to know what makes you and the other people out there who say that the marjority of people in the world are stupid and lazy so damn arrogant
  • Reply By lecia lecia | 2 months ago
first i have never branded obama a socialist or anti-american....i was branding carter that way...lol..though i really don't think he is either one , just stupid...which i have zero tolerance for and which he proved beyond a shadow of a doubt by making such an inflammatory comment at a time when tensions and anger are so high. all he accomplished was to further divide

second....obamanites just like bushies wear blinders ( and really get on my nerves)...he is not the messiah...he is a politician and as such his every move should be scrutinized as should every president....i hate bush and his war mongering as much as the next sane person but that does not mean i have to worship obama and follow blindly any where he leads

It definitely depends on the next few years! People are nervous right now, and things could get worse before they get better again. Obama hasn't had much of a chance to instill confidence yet.

Even with the Mainstream Media propping this guy up and covering for all of his gaffes, Obama has a lower approval rating after nine months in office than Clinton & Bush did.

This is still a Center Right country and as much as people have been patient with this President, he has dissapointed even his most ardent supporters.

He promised to bring the country together, but we can all honestly say that the country has never been more divided than it is today.

It is not a stretch to say that he will be a one termer. The argument that there is no one out there is flawed. Coming into the 2008 elections and even before that, no one had heard of Barack Obama except for one speech in the 2004 Democratic Convention.

We don't know where the next Reagan will come from, but i think a any formidable candidate would unseat Obama in 2012.
