The Champions Trophy 2009 is turning out to be a bad dream for Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He has limited options before him – he has to beat West Indies by a huge margin and should pray that Pakistan beats Australia. Dhoni must win the toss in the crucial game on Wednesday against the West Indies and post around 350 runs, his star batsmen must aim for 7 runs per over from the first ball itself. Then his bowlers should end the WI innings within 150 runs. Dhoni started with two of his important weapons not available – Virendra Sehwag was not even included in the team. And Yuvraj Singh, although included, became unfit and was sent back. The replacements did not come up to the mark and, to make matters worse, the Bhajji-magic of Harbhajan Singh did not fox the opponents. Both Pakistan and Australia had done their homework; they had carried detailed study of the videos and knew just how to tackle the spinner. He bagged only one wicket on his 19 overs (10 against Pakistan and 9 against Australia). It is a tough call for Mahendra Singh Dhoni – if he succeeds, best of luck; else, he should concentrate on the next series.
