Back in the days when Apple Jacks still sponsored Captain Kangaroo, young Zane E. Punditty developed a fondness for apple-cinnamon flavoring.
It wasn't until he took a nutrition class a few years back that he realized the real things were even better. Sometimes you do have to go to school to relearn the obvious.
That's right, boys and girls, you don't have to rely on artificial flavoring to provide your apple-cinnamon fix. Now, don't take this the wrong way - there are still times here at The Punditty Project's not-so-corporate headquarters that a bowl of Apple Jacks and a nice, cool glass of chocolate milk hit the spot like nothing else can.
"But how do we prepare this tasty treat, Punditty?" you may be asking. "We want to do this right if we are going to try it."
1. Secure a couple-three fresh apples, preferably organic for better taste.
2. Secure some ground cinnamon.
3. Break out a clean plate or cutting board.
4. Slice apples into the size you prefer.
5. Sprinkle cinnamon on apples.
6. Start eating.
Punditty Project employees like to scrape up traces of cinnamon with the apple slices, so that's why we always advise a clean plate or cutting board.
When ZEP told a friend about his apple-cinnamon find, she grew excited and told him the same thing could be done with bananas and walnuts. She was right!
Here's to healthy eating and mixing flavors the natural way...and to the late, great Captain Kangaroo. A is for Apple, J is for Jacks, yo. Don't you ever forget it.
