Grand Jirga against militants held at Bajaur Agency

Grand jirga of the elders of Tehsil Salarzai was held in the civil colony of Khar, the main headquarter of the restive Bajaur Agency here on Monday. Former MNA Shahabuddin Khan and the prominent elder leading the national tribal Lashker Malik Manasib Khan besides the civil and military officials participated in the grand jirga, sources from Bajaur told.

The jirga was found unanimous in their announcement to continue supporting the political administration and the security forces against the militants in Salarazai region of Bajaur Agency. One of the elders said during the Jirga that government, security forces and the tribal Lashker (Armed volunteers) were united and they had the same goal to flush out militants and miscreants from the region. There was no difference of opinion among the troika, the elders denied some media reports.

The elders pledged to work together with the administration and security forces against the militants till terrorism in every form is deleted from the area. In the current turmoil situation their unity is of primary importance, the elders said in the jirga. Former MNA from Bajaur Agency a Shahabuddin Khan and the leader of the tribal Lashker Malik Manasib Khan particularly spoke on this occasion. The local officials of the political administration and the operational commanders were also reported present in the jirga, local sources told.

It merits to mention that tribal Lashker of Salarzai has played a basic role in their region to rein in militants or to flush them out of their region. It is one of the main and strong tribal Lashker that has pushed out militants of their region, local sources told. The officials also assured that the government and security forces would support the tribal Lashker and would provide every possible assistance in the fight against the alleged militants to normalize the situation and restore writ of the government.
