So I appear on Allvoices platform after a long break. Well, I wasn’t really on a vacation all this while; I had some unfinished business to attend to. THAT business was getting over with my never ending thesis which so to say, my beloved advisor has very conveniently turned into a chronic pain in the ***. Anyways, I believe I am done with it but obviously I will be done with it when my esteemed advisor would feel like approving it. (I am afraid that is not happening in near future, blah!)
Anyways, if that wasn’t enough of trouble on my precious mound of hyperactive brain cells, normally referred to as brain, my third molar has finally decided to emerge! Let me introduce you to this thing called third molar. It is commonly known as the “Wisdom Tooth.” As to what I have been told, there are four of them, but not all of us are blessed with all four of them emerging during our life span. Two up and two down, these four teeth are nothing but a cause of extreme pain in your gums. (Trust me when I say that, I am going through the turmoil)
In fact, the pain is so bad, that it can even lead to numerous absurd responses and sometimes erratic behavior. (I am not quoting general opinion; I am strictly talking about myself) In my case, this intensely irritating and consistent pain in my lower jaw, to be specific, right at the end of the right side of my lower jaw and deep within the gum lining from where this wisdom tooth is emerging by breaking away my gum (uh-oh I guess it has got a little too graphic for the light hearted people, sorry!) has given me an inspiration to write about it.
So here I am doing my first piece after I guess a long break of almost four months on…Wisdom Tooth!!! Last night, after I was unable to eat anything solid for about two days (Yeaah, I am on semi solid and liquid diet), I felt like looking it up on the web. My dentist told me about a year ago when I was having root canal of the neighboring tooth that my x-rays show I am one of those unlucky people who have their wisdom tooth is developing sideways. He suggested extraction and I said, see you later, doc!
But I realized I should have listened to him because now that my wisdom tooth has finally decided to sprout, it is finding it difficult because it cannot emerge horizontally and it ends up banging into the neighboring tooth. It was exactly been 6 month ago when I first saw that tiny white speck at the back of my jaw and I knew it was coming out soon. After six months, the only progress is that the white speck has turned into a big pretty obvious white bead stuck inside the gum…It hasn’t got out of the gum yet! Hence, I cannot declare as yet that my wisdom tooth has finally surfaced completely!
Anyways, what I did find out about dealing with wisdom tooth problems is that you can either get it extracted or live with the pain as the wisdom tooth slowly makes its way out of the gum. In order to lessen the pain, you can try applying clove oil on the gum or place a clove over the emerging tooth. If you do decide to get it extracted, be sure to take extreme care of the hollow cavity for at least three days in order to prevent yourself from getting an infection.
For all of those, who are going through this dawn of the imperial wisdom phase, welcome and join the club… We are all turning into ‘Extra Wise’ men (women). And, for those of you who aren’t going through it as yet, God bless you and save you from the pain! And of course, all those of you who I haven’t been able to become friends with, Hi, this is Majdy, been out from Allvoices for sometime but now back with a bang! Only that this time, the bang is nowhere else but right at the place where my lower jaw ends! Chao!!!
