President Obama along with Prime Minister Gordon Brown and President Nicolas Sarkozy accuse Iran this morning of building a secret underground nuclear plant saying it has hidden the covert operation for years.

U.S. officials said that while the plant is not up and running it could be in operation next year reports The New York Times. One administration official told The Times “They have cheated three times and they have now been caught three times.”

President Obama along with Britain"s Prime Minister Gordon Brown and President Nicolas Sarkozy of France announced this morning in Pittsburgh that Iran has kept an underground nuclear fuel facility a secret for years now. The president demanded that Iran allows the International Atomic Energy Agency to conduct an immediate inspection of the facility in which Iran says production is taking place.

The U.S. has been tracking Iran's nuclear program for quite some time but today President Obama decided to go public with the findings after Iran recently discovered Western intelligence had become aware of their secret project.

In a statement from its Vienna headquarters on Friday, the I.A.E.A. confirmed that Tehran had informed it on Monday that “a new pilot fuel enrichment plant is under construction in the country” The New York Times reports “The Agency also understands from Iran that no nuclear material has been introduced into the facility” said spokesman Marc Vidicaire.

The embattled President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said nothing about the covert facility to the United Nations this week although he repeated his assertion that Iran had fully cooperated with inspectors and that the allegations of a nuclear weapons program are fabrications.

Hopefully the future UN inspections of Iran do not go down the same road those inspections did in Iraq. No more war is needed for the US military at this time.

I agree we don't need another war. Let's hope this gives Obama more leverage with Russia and China to get them to back the United States and the United Nations on further sanctions.

Unfortunately, Obama has no juice to "demand" anything, because nobody of any consequence listens to him or feels intimidated by him. He has become a "paper tiger". He's all blow and now go, and the rest of the world knows it.

And you know this to be fact how? I've read a few of your comments before and somehow I get the feeling you would be against Obama no matter what he does.
Reply By firesisle firesisle | about 1 month ago
Actually, I'd be fine with Obama if he's stop acting like Neville Chamberlain. All he does is pander to international thugs... who can respect that?
Reply By airwlf405 airwlf405 | about 1 month ago
I guess it all depends on if you consider pandering as weak or pandering as sly. Diplomacy is similar to a high stakes game of poker,if you always bluff it makes you predictable and sooner or later you will get called on it.

Let's try three to start... Quotes, that are of course from two very lovely men... Yes, I am quite sure they think Obama is very intimidating.

"Obama, come and join the socialists," Mr Chavez quipped in the address to the UN General Assembly. "We invite you to join the axis of evil."

"He goes and accuses me of exporting terrorism: the least I can say is that he's a poor ignoramus; he should read and study a little to understand reality," said Chavez”

"If I were Obama's adviser, I would definitely advise him to refrain making this statement because it is definitely a mistake. It would definitively be a mistake," Ahmadinejad said, during the interview in New York.”

but don't you see how it is all adding up? first obama calls off the missile shields and now this "secret" site is revealed.....russia had already stated (after the demise of the missile shield) that iran must obey the iaea regulations....now with the secret site russia will back the usa...china???? can anyone ever predict what those people will do?
Reply By airwlf405 airwlf405 | about 1 month ago
I'm thinking President Obama had a deal with Russia on Iran in mind when he decided not to build the missile shield in Poland.
Reply By firesisle firesisle | about 1 month ago
And I'm thinking you're probably right, but time will tell exactly what that means in terms of real security.

I agree, only time will tell and there are no guarantees but we have to at least give the guy a chance.

Of course that's just my humble opinion.

This can't be good. Hopefully everything can be resolved peacefully. With all the issues going on right now, we don't need any more conflict. The country obviously needs to stand it's ground, but acting like a tough guy all the time sends out the wrong message. Obama wants to handle this with diplomacy, and the US will make every effort to resolve the issue in a peaceful way. Iran will obviously have to be on the same page to prevent things from escalating.

why iran need nucler bombs?? they hate israel so much..US and other states should do something about this.. and they need to do it now!!

yarden - tell France and England to do it - We're maxed out and we've lost enough of our soldiers in the Middle East. It will never change and we should pull out and you should look for assistance elsewhere. It's time other nations took the lead instead of expecting the US to always do the dirty work and always take the blame and always loss their youth to useless wars.

I personally back the right for Israel to defend itself, we just should not be a part of it.

As far as Israel goes, I believe they need to chill on threatening military strikes and let Obama try it his way. You are right Write4Life, if they attack we (The US) will be drawn right in.

For one thing even though Ahmadinejad says Israel should not exist, there is no way even if they were to get a nuclear weapon they would use it on Israel.

Israel has an estimated 200 nuclear warheads and Iran knows if they go nuclear on Israel they would be totally destroyed.

Second if Iran was going to give any terrorist nuclear material they would have done it already. A dirty bomb is much easier to handle than a nuclear warhead.

While I am glad that at least one person agrees with me on Allvoices ... and that Israel is much more nuclear powerful than Iran will ever be (because Israel will most likely strike first) their are two factors to consider... Ahmadinejad is a psychopath - and he does not care about the possible ramifications his actions will have on Iran....and I think with a nuke - he's going to aboslutely use it.

As for Obama's policy - he's already saying we will use force if need be. It's useless... just like George W leading us into Iraq and Afghanistan - Obama will lead us into Iran - we will lose more men, more women, we will be viewed even more horrid by the muslims of the world and we will regret it.

I don't want to be involved over there anymore - I would like AMerica to pull out and let them fend for themselves. No aid, not anything. Pull back foreign aid, foreign philanthropy, oversees operations - the whole lot.

We cannot save any part of the world by sending relief. If we are viewed as an evil entity that will not change with more aggression - and more loss of life. The G20 has allowed us to shed American blood all over the world and take blame for ever bit of what is wrong in the world as well.

No more - that's change I believe in. America needs to repair America - not the World... and that would be a welcomed change to me.

I assume your talking about the billions a year in aid we give Israel also and I don't believe Obama will take us to war with Iran unless Israel is stupid enough to attack them and like I said: Drag us in.

I could be wrong but I doubt it.
Reply By Write4Life Write4Life | about 1 month ago
The billions in aid to everyone - and not just Israel either. Israel can defend itself -
Reply By firesisle firesisle | about 1 month ago
With ya in spades. Time to bring em' all home, and let the rest of the world figure it out for awhile.
Reply By firesisle firesisle | about 1 month ago
Considering the flight time from Iran to Israel, and the size of Israel in relation to the blast area of even a moderately sized nuclear payload, if Iran pushes the button, it will be Israel's swan song and they very likely won't have a chance to get a bird in the air. Of course that would also include Gaza, the Palestinians, and parts of Egypt and Jordan, but from a traditional Arab perspective, fairly cheap at twice the cost.

If the Israelis decide to grab their prerogative and make a preemptive strike, so be it. It's their right as a sovereign nation, to act in their own self interest, just as it's Iran's right to continue to pursue nuclear arms. If the Obama administration and other world leaders can't make the necessary headway, the Israelis will most certainly act, and they're not known for being patient in issues of national security, nor should they be expected to be.
Reply By airwlf405 airwlf405 | about 1 month ago
That's just a doomsday way of thinking. Again Israel has close to 200 nuclear missiles (might I add Illegal missiles that they still do not admit to having) pointed at Iran and ready to go if needed.
Reply By firesisle firesisle | about 1 month ago
airwlf405,
Iran’s two-stage, solid fuel Sejil(range 2000 km) can currently reach all Middle Eastern targets from eastern Iran.

Israel is currently ready to attack on short notice; if they decide to go, the go. I think a lot of it will depend on how conciliatiry Obama is with Iran on the issue. If it's not getting done via diplomacy, it will be done militarily; count on it.
Reply By Write4Life Write4Life | about 1 month ago
Airwlf - with all respect, thinking Iran would not fire a weapon once produced directly at Israel because of all the nukes Israel already has... well, that's utopian thinking. Doomsday thinking might be more appropriate when considering the mentality of Mr. Ahmadinejad
Reply By airwlf405 airwlf405 | about 1 month ago
Iran doesn't have a nuclear weapon let alone one that can be weaponized or for that fact a missile that can accurately reach Israel also Israel along with the US will know the second any missile is fired and will have plenty of time to respond.
Posted By airwlf405 airwlf405 | about 1 month ago
I agree Write4Life, Ahmadinejad is NUT'S but with all do respect he's not running the Country, he's just the mouthpiece.

The main thing people with power love is power and I don't believe they think they could win against Israel and the US so why risk losing any of the power they already have?

I just don't see them being stupid enough to attack Israel and sign their own death warrant, sorry.
Posted By Write4Life Write4Life | about 1 month ago
Yes, but it's between the two of them - we should stay out of it and even if Iran does not have a weapon yet - it's just a matter of time and when they have it they will use it.

That's all I'm saying- they have no regard for the safety of the Iranian people...but to put it in plain English - LET Europe take care of it this time. We should remain out of the conflict.

It should not be Israel along with the US anymore - it should be Israel.
Posted By airwlf405 airwlf405 | about 1 month ago
"It should not be Israel along with the US anymore - it should be Israel."

I agree, if they want to pick a fight with another kid in the school yard they shouldn't then run to their big brother to finish the fight for them.:]

add the rest of the world to that and we're in complete agreement.
