Chicago police raided an Illinois day-care center that apparently doubled as a brutal dogfighting operation. Ten children were being watched at the private home at the time of the raid. A swing set used by the kids was only 10 feet from a bloody garage where a “vicious” pit bull was found, said the county sheriff. Three people were arrested and nine abused dogs recovered. The woman who ran the day-care home tells the Chicago Tribune that the kids she watched were never near the dogs. She was not arrested, but her husband was charged with felony dogfighting. Police also arrested his cousin, along with a neighbor who was allegedly being paid $60 a month to watch the dogs. They included three 4-week-old puppies believed to be “bait dogs” for use in fights.
