INDONESIA - A woman has given birth to a nineteen pound baby boy that measured in at 24.4 inches long. They baby was born by cesarean procedure at a public hospital in the North Sumatra province.
According to Binsar Sitanggang, a gynecologist who took part in the operation, "This heavy baby made the surgery really tough, especially the process of taking him out of his mum's womb. His legs were so big."
The gynecologist said the baby is healthy, but was initially given oxygen to overcome breathing problems. "He's got a strong appetite, every minute, it's almost nonstop feeding," the doctor told the Agence France-Presse.
The mother of the baby, Ani, 41, has diabetes, which is probably why the baby is so big. According to Sitanggang, if a diabetc mother's glucose levels are too high during pregnancy, the baby may be so big because of high glucose intake.
The baby, the forth child for Ani, is going to be a handful. It was stated the baby has a loud cry, like a lion's roar.
In the photo, the three day old baby boy lays next to a standard size newborn.
This particular baby didn't break the record. Back in 1879, it was reported a baby was born weighing in at twenty three pounds.
